3/24/2025 8:09am You wrote a coupla interesting bits. To me it sounds like the pads may be sitting too low over the rotor, which may allow them to run on the rotor arms. Light-med braking may not create a vibe but harder pulls will as you may be getting a little bit extra stopping power each time the arm passes through the pad, and that extra bite causes the vibration. Check the rotor wear marks on the little triangle transition from the brake track to the arm and compare it to the wear mark that lines with the outside/top of the pad/outer...

3/23/2025 7:08pm Not to mention all the non DT pros are using 30mm rims, Enve, crank brothers, Reserve etc are all 30mm internal. I do think 25-28mm is better, but only a handful of racers have access to them as most are using sponsors carbon rims that are 30mm for consumers. Who is still run 471's other than specialized gravity?

3/23/2025 7:08pm FWIW, Jack Moir is running EX1700 rims (laced to 240 hubs). If there's nothing shady going on (rebranded 471s for the sake of looks), he's running 30 mm rims.

3/19/2025 9:19am Well I think being 6 3 also may mean you don’t have to care as much. Now personally I don’t need much drop either as I’m accustomed to spinning with my seat lower than it probably should be. In the rare moment I’m actually trying uphill I’m probably going to stand anyways. But a seat being low enough is a massive deal for me. Long reach and low stand over is essential for how I want to ride a bike. And I want that low seat with at least enough drop I can somewhat pedal. And I’m sure plenty of...

3/17/2025 8:45am I hear you, but being 6 foot I’ve had to sell every dropper post on all my size large bikes because they’re far too short. I argue, and this isn't to say I don’t understand where you’re coming from, there is a larger subset of the large bike population that could use a longer dropper. There have been some strong opinion pieces on the other site to sell stock bikes with non crap brakes, tires, and longer droppers. Although this wouldn’t be necessary or appropriate for all for everyone, I still support the idea that bikes should be stocked with...

3/17/2025 8:38am The real question is “why do bike companies spec such short dropper posts on their bikes?” Give the people all the drop that’s possible. Any bike that comes with less than 210mm drop needs to be upgraded. Obviously, if it’s a light weight XC bike, it may not be necessary. But once a bike hits the trail or all mountain category it should come with lots of dropper travel.

3/8/2025 12:18pm I used that logic for way too long before I finally bought some Dominions and realised I was being really stupid. Never going back to Shimano or Sram brakes. The only downside I've found is holding back the vomit whenever i have to use someone elses brakes.

3/5/2025 10:30am Definitely trying to get a slice of that "i need a full power full suspension bike path basher but can't be trusted to brake or shift on my own" pie. Would look sweet on the new Rail.
