1 day ago Trek would be smart to pull an Orbea. Combine your DH/Enduro into one and base it on your long travel e-bike. 3 in 1.

1 day ago It's a mini xc Devinci Wilson. Replace the flex for split pivot and it's the same suspension design/layout.

5/22/2026 11:45am The Mavens thing is crazy. The bike world has been gaslit into believing that massaging pistons on brand new brakes from the factory is supposed to be normal and accepted. Pre Mavens this was never done on new brakes.

5/21/2026 3:07pm As someone who also started mountain biking in the early 90's as a young teen I agree with all the above.

5/15/2026 9:55am My interpretation here is that this bike was in the pipeline before things went sideways for Rocky and the money was already spent. R&D costs on the motor was already burnt ages ago. Seems to be a lot of hate on the new Rocky because it's not a DJI an it looks different. Not a single comment on it's geo...

5/13/2026 11:08am Just to clarify, he didn't say it WAS a high pivot. He said " design lends itself to a high pivot suspension design". I think they should have used the black frames for all their lead marketing images as it looks better. The Rocky Dyname is a fundamentally different motor to everything else on the market. Starts with a low...

5/6/2026 5:03pm Soon enough there will be full "ECU" swaps for the commercial ebike motors. There have already been some for a few of the Bafang offerings. No locks and motor controllers that are able to handle much higher amps. Plug n play 3000w that just looks like a regular bike. 3000w will likely shred the gears...but someone will determine that replacing...

5/4/2026 12:17pm Single cs length across all sizes. Why not a replaceable dropout and give the people options? Or two swingarms and adjust a short for S/M and longer for L/XL? Does it all really just come down to mold costs? The bike's silhouette looks great and kinematics look good.

5/4/2026 11:59am Do you have any real measurements to back up your graph? Without actual data the graph is just theory.

3/18/2026 12:32pm My bad. Not sure why I had Italian in my head for Alutech. They are most definitely German.

3/18/2026 10:58am It's not a proprietary motor. It's a Gobao P120. Limited number of brands using it but it's not just an Aventon motor. It uses Shimano bolt pattern and apparently their batteries will fit same space as some Shimano. Could be a path of people that like their frame with a crapped out Shimano motor that are looking to update. Alutech...

3/16/2026 9:33am Motor is a Gobao 120. A few different brands have their own white label versions of it. Each one likely has their own software tune on it. I think these share the same mount pattern as a Shimano. I think the Gobao is more refined torque sensor set up compared to the current Bafang M510 but they have a new...

3/13/2026 11:28am Or the Straight of Hormuz stays closed down for 9 months and there is a bike boom as people get frustrated with paying a fortune for gas. OEM's wish they didn't cut back and leave a huge chunk of demand on the table.

3/10/2026 1:46pm You gotta play the game...drop some hints. We can play yes or no. Is it a sub 50lbs dh ebike with 150nm of torque and a solid state 1500wh battery? New solid state ebike batteries that charge in 5 minutes AND Rocky is installing ebike fast charging stations at the Dumpsters?

earleb Added a reply to MTB Component Pricing
3/4/2026 9:55am Pretty sure I trust that Ian and the crew at Chromag don't have it backwards. They wouldn't price the bead blasted black stem cheaper than the polished coloured stems if they were not getting it cheaper from the supplier. It would seem odd also for a stem manufacture in Taiwan to not know their input costs per unit for different...

3/3/2026 7:37pm One is bead blasted then anodized the other one is polished when anodized. The bead blast is going to be a much cheaper and more forgiving process. Quality polish is going to be hand work. This a price difference.

3/3/2026 8:15am Could probably do it in steel. Robotic laser weld all the joints and smart use of a bunch of flat plate. BMX style flat plate dropouts and key points on the rear end. No heat treatment step needed so cuts out a big step. Could do it in stainless steel and cut out paint. Factory direct from Taiwan with no...
