Yeah, my Mistress has almost exactly the same wheelbase as an XXL Hightower. Folks attribute a lot of dynamics to a long reach that I think are actually the result of a long wheelbase. But there’s a feedback loop in the market, where brands’ marketing sells the stability and capability of a long wheelbase via the specific design choice they used to achieve that -- a long reach -- and then that becomes part of what shop staff and informed buyers start looking for specifically. I know I absolutely would not have bought a bike with a 460mm reach off...

The whole “taller riders have more of their mass forward of the bottom bracket” thing doesn’t at all track for me for three reasons. First, taller riders have the same limb/torso proportions are shorter riders, so their mass is going to be distributed on their body the same way. Humans have roughly the same arm span as height and our femurs are roughly 1/4th of our height, pretty much across the board. Obviously, there is variance between individuals, but it’s not like tall people are just people with really long shins. (We’re not talking about a cromegaly, I’m assuming.) Second...

what? margins are usually the same over the whole brand? at least when you are a big retailer. i never worked for a small shop. but the big ones usually negotiate that when putting down the order volumes. the bigger your volume the bigger your margins gets

the more ebikes get sold, the more a shop can earn through just replacing the faster wearing parts. set the service interval in the software to 1500-2000km and you have a steady flux of people coming who want the service symbol to be gone again. even easier when financing those bikes. in germany, those contracts come with mandatory service intervals...

Then why is it fine for a 16/17 year old to buy a muscle car without years of driving experience? No one hates Ford/GM for making more powerful cars. DJI/Avinox are not like Lewis who have photocopied and the improved something. They have designed, engineered and built something from scratch and done it way batter than everyone else. Giving them all a kick in their blasé arse in the process… Bosch and Spesh have hitched their skirts up a bit but they can do better. The new 700w Avinox battery is incredible (not just another repackaged Panasonic. Complete cell and...

Hot take: I agree with them. Keep the 20mph mode? 700 watts, 1200 watts, it's a non issue. Bikes with throttles can be an issue for <20mph, but DJI doesn't make one.

I can comment on these setups. I have posted on vital MTB a little before and felt there was a closed mindedness to this kind of a-typical stuff... That seems to be changing in MTB circles. I am not here to change any minds. I have my own opinions, coming from the moto side of things and the trends in MTB just do not feel right in terms of front wheel grip and rider / body position. I post regularly on VitalMX and have been a motocross racer for most of my life at the amateur / expert level. June...
