I will never understand the “it’s a whole separate sport” thing. I ride my ebike exactly like my analog bike just do more laps. Literally every other person I know with an ebike does the same and is not going out and climbing up downhill trails in boost. I see plenty of e-bikes on the lift at the bike park being ridden like analog bikes. The innovation is happening in the motor and battery because the “bike part” of the tech has plateaued. Amflow proved this by making a decent riding bike out of thin air.

I'm not their target customer, but I applaud using an existing mount standard. There are a lot of used eebs coming through, I'd like to see them repurposed rather than e-waste.

thanks to your president, i am still not able to ride the fork as the velduro is still on a ship, needing to take a huge u-turn around africa. i changed it because my cousin wanted one and i can't have him have the burlier looking fork. simple as that. and i got a great deal on both of them

As a data point of one, our house in rural CA is almost completely off grid. We just upgraded to new solar panels, single LiIon battery, and inverter, mostly from Midnite Solar. We can run the house for 2-3 days on a single day of sun, without much in the way of conservation. With two or three batteries that would be even more. With California utility rates, I expect the cost of the system to break even in less than 4 years. Plus, no outages. That said, we just bought our first ever new car and went with a hybrid...

Yeah, there is a big focus on the motor tech for obvious reasons, but battery tech is where the real future is, and china and its firms are all in on batteries. It's where you will get the greater range and lighter weight that the ebike market wants. On a more macro scale, battery tech (energy storage) has quietly changed the world in the last 20 years, and will completely remake it in the next 20. When you look into the economies of scale of current day solar and battery tech, it truly puts into prospective how antiquated oil and...

Bosch is a genuine giant, comparable in scale to Caterpillar or Goldman Sachs. DJI, by contrast, is roughly 10-15% of Bosch's size on a revenue basis. The real difference, however, is breadth. DJI is narrowly focused to a degree that's hard to fully appreciate until you start poking around at what Bosch actually does: automotive systems, power tools, home appliances, factory automation, HVAC, security systems. It's a company that has to be everything to everyone, all at once. Profitability compounds the contrast. DJI reportedly operates around 40% net margins, which if accurate is a truly remarkable number for any company...

You're missing the point. For a two pound penalty you can have double the range. You can set your avinox to a low eco mode and have the same gentle assistance. The first time you try and go on a ride with your full power ebike friends on your TQ you'll understand that it just makes so much more sense to have a bike that can do both

my ksl with nice parts was 21kg ish. another kg for the range extender to up the capacity to 480Wh. my next bike is the velduro with mostly the same parts, i will end about 1-1.5kg more, have tons of power and 320Wh more capacity. sl bikes don’t math anymore

There are three guarantees in life: death, taxes, and the internet being absolutely certain that every new e-bike motor release is going to end in disaster. I like to think my view of the world is pretty empirical and observational. So with that in mind, can anyone point me to actual examples of trail closures caused by e-MTBs? We’ve obviously seen issues with SurRons, but my brief Google search and AI-assisted digging turned up basically nothing beyond trails being opened to e-bikes. I cannot find evidence of trail networks being closed to mountain bikes because e-MTB use has meaningfully increased...

if you only look on the motor, yes. if you look at new motor and new batteries, it’s only 2 3rd parties who offer the complete package and both are highly boutique. so the amflow px is so far the only bike with the sl looks that offer the whole deal in carbon. and they are the only oem who...
