5/20/2026 6:14am I'm away to Morzine next month and I'm debating whether to take my ~2014 Giro Cipher helmet or newish Fox Proframe. The Giro is a full on DH helmet that has mostly sat in the cupboard over its lifetime, and feels noticeably sturdier, heavier, and more padded than the Proframe, but does not have Mips. The Proframe is newer and has Mips, but is obviously a much more lightweight helmet in its design. I'm leaning towards the Giro, but I'm curious as to what people's thoughts are on what the safer helmet actually would be. They both meet ASTM-5 but...

15 hours ago Im certainly not planning to bin off my rarely used 2018 fox rampage pro carbon. Bloody lovely helmet and the best fitting I've owned. Feels very sturdy, more like a motorcycle helmet. I actually binned an original model proframe this morning, pre that stupid twiddly adjustor. Not used it for years as i replaced it with a leatt gravity 4.0...

5/19/2026 11:37am I know there’s a difference because it’s harder to control with bikes, but why is it such a big deal here when people unlock their hardware? I can drive a car faster than the speed limit, too. It’s the driver’s responsibility to follow the rules. If they don’t, there are penalties—or they lose their insurance coverage. It’s true, though, that we as humanity are apparently generally unable to exercise restraint at the moment. I think it’s illusory to believe that anyone will regulate themselves. As a personal experience: I still think my Unno with M1 is great. I don’t need...

5/19/2026 11:36am The unlocking market has been a thing since e-bikes were a thing. Strangely seems a lot less popular on this side of the pond but you can buy a speed-limit delimiter for every single system out there already.

5/12/2026 8:26am Wyn broke himself off when he had to hit the eject button off the step down to avoid landing on hard tail guy during practice. Same guy then proceeds to almost screw up Asa's qually run. Lifetime ban for hard tail guy!

5/2/2026 11:18am Well he is the champ for his country and has an actual physical disability verses just a guy pulling a bit of a “look at me”. Again I’m not even mad the hardtail guy is there. I just think he should’ve borrowed a buddy’s bike and gave it an actual go.

5/1/2026 1:08pm I’m all for the hardtail cat (whether real or just a bro title) at the local races. Maybe not World Cup Dh though? I’m all for accessibility and keeping the world cups somewhat participatory for young/obscure country racers. But not sure showing up with a hardtail is cool. If you gotta ride a 10 year old trailbike it will be way more competitive and probably cheaper than that thing. huge props to that Indonesian champ in the wyn interview. That’s the type of character this sport should really make an effort not to push out.

4/28/2026 10:45pm Too little too late. And IMHO they are tackeling the wrong points. Althought I know why they do these things, because this is what Bosch can do with software. On the Hardware side they appear to be very slow-responding.

4/28/2026 10:42pm Is specialized cooked now that their motor/battery isn't the most refined setup (dji) ? They've been really coasting on bike design.

4/28/2026 10:41pm Unno updates the Mith with Avinox M2S: LIFE, TURNED ON - THE NEW UNNO MITH Let’s get this out of the way first. Yes, the new MITH makes 130Nm of torque. Yes, peak power hits 1300 watts. Yes, there’s an 800Wh battery and a 508W GaN fast charger that’ll take you from dead to 75% in 90 minutes, full in 2h 25. Cool numbers. Now forget them. Because what actually matters is what those numbers feel like when you’re halfway up a climb you used to dread, and suddenly you’re not counting meters anymore. You’re looking for side hits. That’s...

4/22/2026 10:09pm Hard disagree. I use my e-bike to self shuttle up fire roads and down DH trails where the motor doesn't even kick on when I don't have time for a multi-hour epic on the pedal bike. In that context more power is in fact more better.

4/22/2026 10:05pm My condolences to everyone who bought a current gen Levo at full price. There's zero chance the prices stay that level with a $5,000 Amflow around. Cheapest alloy Levo is $6,100 and the cheapest carbon Levo is on sale for $8,000 from it's MSRP of $9,200. (bonkers) Spesh was always dreaming with those prices, I mean even before the Amflow who would choose the Levo over a Vala that costs less? I'm a removable battery absolutist and would still get the Vala over the Levo. Luckily according to Amflow being able to NOT remove your battery quickly is now a...

4/22/2026 10:04pm That could be very possible. Give it a few years. DJI made a 50% increase in power 1st to 2nd gen motors. They're doing some voodoo magic in that motor.

4/22/2026 10:01pm There are three guarantees in life: death, taxes, and the internet being absolutely certain that every new e-bike motor release is going to end in disaster. I like to think my view of the world is pretty empirical and observational. So with that in mind, can anyone point me to actual examples of trail closures caused by e-MTBs? We’ve obviously seen issues with SurRons, but my brief Google search and AI-assisted digging turned up basically nothing beyond trails being opened to e-bikes. I cannot find evidence of trail networks being closed to mountain bikes because e-MTB use has meaningfully increased...
