Well he is the champ for his country and has an actual physical disability verses just a guy pulling a bit of a “look at me”. Again I’m not even mad the hardtail guy is there. I just think he should’ve borrowed a buddy’s bike and gave it an actual go.

I’m all for the hardtail cat (whether real or just a bro title) at the local races. Maybe not World Cup Dh though? I’m all for accessibility and keeping the world cups somewhat participatory for young/obscure country racers. But not sure showing up with a hardtail is cool. If you gotta ride a 10 year old trailbike it will be way more competitive and probably cheaper than that thing. huge props to that Indonesian champ in the wyn interview. That’s the type of character this sport should really make an effort not to push out.

Hard disagree. I use my e-bike to self shuttle up fire roads and down DH trails where the motor doesn't even kick on when I don't have time for a multi-hour epic on the pedal bike. In that context more power is in fact more better.

That could be very possible. Give it a few years. DJI made a 50% increase in power 1st to 2nd gen motors. They're doing some voodoo magic in that motor.

I like to think my view of the world is pretty empirical and observational. So with that in mind, can anyone point me to actual examples of trail closures caused by e-MTBs? We’ve obviously seen issues with SurRons, but my brief Google search and AI-assisted digging turned up basically nothing beyond trails being opened to e-bikes. I cannot find evidence of trail networks being closed to mountain bikes because e-MTB use has meaningfully increased...

The power always seems to grab the headlines and freak people out. These Avinox bikes are still limited to 20mph like all class 1 bikes and I guess 28mph if you put it into Class 3 Mode (this is the more scarier part I think, they should just eliminate this mode, I'm not even sure if it's still available on the m2/m2s). Using WD40 for lube or what? Haven't had that experience myself. I went though I think 2 XT cassettes/sprockets, and a couple chains over 5 years on my Ep8 bike, nothing that crazy. Modern drivetrains are more than capable of handling these torque levels.
