7/7/2026 8:13am I agree . I’m really really really sick of the constant work I have to do on ALL THE DRIVETRAINS in my family of four’s garage. Yeah they work, 12 speed is good for us, and all brands have little things to help them run better but it’s a heavy wear item and a high cost paddock over here at the moment . 11 year old thrashes everything (sideways impacts) , 13 year old found watts ( and won’t listen to proper shifting “technique”) over the winter, and the wife is a diesel engine just ripping 12 speed chains through...

7/7/2026 8:12am seems like new saint is ready to go, anyone have an eta? will it drive a Shimano gearbox? (I jest) did they change anything (besides the Direct mount) about these cranks at all? and has Shimano lost the thread when they take this long to release something?

7/6/2026 1:12pm On gearboxes, I don’t think the average rider cares as much about efficiency as we think. We’re seeing this play out with radial tires. Less efficient, more grip. Everyone wants them. We forget bikes are products, not some B2B contract deliverable that has to meet a spec sheet. What tech could realistically convince everyone who has an amazing bike now...

7/6/2026 12:57pm Long time lurker… longer than I’ve been an ‘official’ member… Phoenix local here… DH tires. Cushcore.. and a Neo Shock. I ride a 2023 Rocky Mountain Altitude and the Neo- has been an absolute game changer for me. I pedal a lot.. and it has made my enduro into a ‘trail-duro’ it’s been a huge innovation for me. DH tires and cushcore so I don’t get stranded in the desert heat and can bash the rocks back.. Neo to pedal all day. I’d recommend it for the type of riding I have out the front door from the house.

7/6/2026 12:55pm I'm thinking more about the perception than implementation. After owning a box and belt for 2 years now, I'm convinced the downsides are way overblown while there are many advantages no one even considers or mentions.

7/6/2026 12:54pm Gearboxes are here. High output Analog bikes will still skip them until the gearboxes get way way lighter and smoother, but I think it’s also one of the only things left to push a concept with the geo and suspension designs so dialed. Yes. Chains will be wear they end up tho. Because chains survive mountain biking way better than belts. And are repairable. But none of it matters until tech rumors has more rumors - and that means either 1. Pinion goes hard on a new design or 2. A disruptive box maker comes in with something very clever

7/6/2026 12:51pm Question for the peanut gallery, inspired by this Nick Bentley pic from the other site- it seems like every Shimano team is running an Ochain on the old Saint M820/825 cranks, despite the fact that those cranks come from the factory with a very permanently installed 104 BCD spider. How do we think they're doing this? Do you think Shimano corporate is modifying the cranks for the teams, or are all the teams doing a garage bodge job like this?

7/6/2026 12:47pm Radial tires from everyone but Kenda, should create some more skus in rubber, but I don’t expect to see any new treads- except for 32 in tires , which will be weird looking. All new e-bike motors will all have gearboxes, freeing the high pivots but also improving the mid and low pivots : should see new framesets sooner than expected Sea otter, eurobike, and even bespoke already happened so most of the years “hot shit” is already out Shimano still won’t release new saint.

7/6/2026 12:46pm The oneup aluminum wheels are interesting when you view the overall portfolio of products at PON. Based on the initial information, there is no intention to offer the rims separately. It makes me wonder if these will be positioned as the slightly more budget option for santacruz oem builds. They weigh more or less the same as a pair of reserve AL|HD wheels. I like the 28f/32r and front/rear specific rim ideas with regards to compliance. Overall seems like a good option as a lower price point then reserve ALs. I've had good luck with reserve AL|HD wheels and find...

7/1/2026 1:26pm Could they get rid of lifetime warranty now that Crankbrothers has a lifetime alloy rim competing with them? Somewhere else in this thread someone said something about carbon wheels and how they take out an insurance policy per rim. The economics of this seem to make sense on $650 rims where a small fraction of riders are cracking rims and...
