Couple more: Most track pumps that have presta and schrader attachments - if you take out the valve core, and use the schrader fitting on the coreless cylinder that's left, you will get more airflow that might help in seating the bead without resorting to compressors or air cannisters. Once the bead is seated, you'll have to put the valve...

If your bikes live in a shed or unheated garage, bring the new tyres inside to warm up for a few hours before you try to fit them.

To really level the playing field any top level racing should be limited to 20" wheels.

How is GoPro not related when I'm watching winning world cup race runs week in and week out on the GoPro Bike YouTube Channel? (Daks helmet sponsor too) On YouTube GoPro Bike has 91k subs vs GoPro Snow at 152k. I honestly thought the gulf of bike to snow would be much larger. Seems like bikes are a huge segment of the market for GoPro (and it's slowly slipping to Insta360 and DJI) I bet a fair amount of people in here have owned a GoPro and basically only used it on their bike. Highly relevant.

Just watched Ben Cathros round up of the race and he twice mentions MAIDEN wins, not DEBUT wins as Rick keeps saying on the commentary but apart from that error I have to really take my hat off to him and Beaumont for their commentary yesterday.. they real did increase their hype for the last 10 and helped build some excitement. Beaumont has really steadied the ship in my opinion. And Rick deserves a lot of credit for not letting the criticism destroy his confidence

the gearbox riders actually have a gear to sprint at the finish where regular drivetrain riders look spun out.

i mean. general public is awkward because its more or less implying people who dont care bout bicycle racing, at least our off road variant. the general public cares more about a racer winning with a broken chain or whether or not their balls are such a size at which one would struggle to comfortably sit with them they might not understand the nuance of gwins VDS winning margin in the dry, or the epic wet runs amaury did recently (or getting 2nd with a crash). so jersey with cool colors that more popular cycling races also use is easier...

Gwin did not “qualify” via the criteria. 1.Dak and Dylan qualified with last year’s worlds results. 2. Luca qualified with his wc win 3. Pinky qualified with his wc podium Evan, Richie, and Aaron all “qualified” Via a top 20 wc result this season. However USA can only send 6 racers. Richie and Evan got lower results in Korea and Aaron never bested those results in the wcs he entered. It’s just the rulebook. Nobody made a judgement call. As much as I’d like to see Aaron in world champs he didn’t earn it over the people who did. I...

I agree about the unavoidability of Strava, but I drew a different conclusion about how to respond to that reality. Instead of working extra hard to hide the trail, keep it secret, and try to avoid people who use Strava from finding out about a trail, I think illegal trail building should be built in such a way to anticipate, plan for, and hope for people to find out about the trail. The question should be: if this trail is going to be discovered by the authorities no matter what, how can I build it so that it's worth maybe...

Silver lining? That was the most even-handed news report on illegal trail building that I've ever seen. A conspicuous absence of pearl clutching and hyperbole. Maybe there's hope for the future yet.

Land managers and NIMBYs lose their minds when they see wood structures built for skinny's and drops. Alarm bells go off for "double black", "unpermitted construction", and "Liability". If they had kept the trail limited to dirt and natural features, they might still be riding that trail today.

What do you mean amplify. Weight transfer gives you more grip. It only makes sense to have more braking power (i.e. bigger rotor) in the front. QED: literally every car on the road. If it has a rear weight bias (Porsche for example) or a near 50 50 split, the difference front to rear is smaller, but still present.
