5/3/2026 9:08am Real interesting review on the Die Bremses. I would just skip to the performance section of the video. Claims they've got a lighter lever pull than Dominions with more power than Mavens and Hope V4s.

4/29/2026 10:26am Thicker rotors only reduce lever travel (which comes from less of a gap between pads and rotor) till the pads are worn a bit and the caliper seals let the pistons slip out a bit to make up for some of the wear. Then, the lever throw is only depending on the seal roll back of the caliper piston seals. The same effect can be achieved by pumping the brakes and by that advancing the pistons slightly before you insert a thinner rotor.

4/23/2026 11:53am I think a downtube experiences tension and compression, but I think for the majority of impacts its experiencing them as a compression event. That's part of the reason why roadbikes can have such tiny toptubes and still need such huge downtubes. The early 2010's TCR is a great example of this extreme difference in tube sizes: Here's my caveman understanding of those forces (not an engineer): But I don't even think that compressive force is the main reason downtubes need to be stiff. I think the main reason is that it connects contact points. It's the most direct line between...

4/20/2026 9:47am Of all the dumb ebike comments in this thread, this one really got to me. "Ebike motors are controlled by analog PWM signals. So they are actually analog by the literal definition of analog." For the 18 people who up-thumbed this, care to explain what the fuck an "analog PWM signal" is?

2/18/2026 1:52pm I'm 5'10", so in a similar situation to you. Up until about about six months ago I've spent my entire riding career on size mediums. Two years ago I built a sweet Transition Spire size M (460 reach) and rode that for a season and a half. Well I cracked the front triangle and decided to go to a size...

2/18/2026 9:04am I'm 176cm metric, 5'9 freedom units, and for my last two bikes i went up from M to L. For me the biggest difference was the first ride, as reach was about 30mm longer, but after that, i never missed the M bikes. I also run 40mm rise bars at 760mm width. A lof of the sizing is what you re used to, but for me who rides all kind of trials, sizing up was the right thing to do.

ewebster Added a reply to Tire debate: Cannibal, HR3, or Radial
2/4/2026 7:29pm If I get a radial it would just be on the front, for now at least. Like everyone else has mentioned, they seem better suited to a front than a back to me. I'm sticking with my tried and true Kryptotal Re DH Soft for the back. Great grip, great support, and lasts absolutely forever

2/4/2026 7:27pm I’d get one and put it up front. But I’m also out here mix n matching brands like a mofo, something that makes the bike dudes shudder

2/3/2026 1:11pm I do ride a lot of sharp rocks out here in Colorado, so it sounds like a radial might not be the best option. A lot of our trails are higher speed too; one of the trails I ride most frequently definitely demands some sidewall support.
