I really like these tires after just one ride on them this past weekend. I live in the bay area of California, so read very dry conditions. I rode in Santa Cruz and they were so good. I was running HR3 and DHRII previously at 23 psi in the front, and 28psi in the rear. The DHX at 20psi in the front and 25psi the rear feels perfect. The new casing is so supportive and traction is all time. I'm no reviewer hence why I was saying the Brian Cahal review is the best I've seen on these tires. Everything...

I have to give Maxxis props on this, I normally go through 2 rears a season and I feel like this might actually make it! at 200lb I'm not the easiest on rear tires either.

Much different casings and a lot more going on with the new DH vs DD. The butyl insert in the new DH is waaaaaaaaaay stiffer than the old one or what’s found in the DD casing. It also has different geometry-thicker at the base near the bead and tapers as it goes up the sidewall. I believe it’s also taller than the insert in DD so it extends higher up the sidewall. And then the sidewalls are topped with a layer of EXO for additional cut protection. I’m no longer at Maxxis, but I was working on this launch up...

related to the dhx release... I want to give a shoutout to the new 3c maxx terra that maxxis released. I just tried it for the first time on a 2.5 dh dhr2 as a rear tire and the longevity/wear is significantly improved. Previously, this same tire as a rear would be looking pretty shot after 5-6 full park days... but the new compound only just started to show wear ever so slightly after day 3. Suffice to say, it seems to me that it will last somewhere around 2x longer... maybe a bit less than that. Conditions were too...
