You just described the Norco Fluid, which exists. 130/140mm crab link. Carbon and aluminum options. Was bike of the year for one of the big guys (green and red sites), maybe both when it came out 2 seasons ago.

The patent description is quite interesting. Seems more like a way to modify spring rate in one direction only than what we would typically call "damping," if that distinction makes sense. (Cue the semantic arguments!) Vocabulary aside I'd be interested to know what it feels like.

You mess up in seeding you start where you start. Own it. You are going to have to deal with slower riders on course. Better luck next year. Does matter if you are AG or some never was has been local. Life ain't always stacked in favour.

The annoying thing about mountain biking is that there's such a huge difference in abilities, and those differences mean that high performance bikes are heavier while prebuilt/cheaper bikes are lighter because it's "higher performance" even though it isn't. It affects rims more than anything else I reckon. Products that we'd destroy in one run can last for years under 90% of riders because 90% of people trundle down blue trails. And it means things like Treks, or anything with ARC30s, etc are totally unfit for purpose out of the box. Very different from something like motocross, where out of the...
