6/15/2026 12:05am Nah I think it's just a modern perspective on an older brake. The Code RSC has always felt like an OK brake for trail bikes for me and that's about it. Code R belongs on Trek Marlin factory builds and not a lot else. Codes have plenty of power in the same way that my old Transition Patrol from 2015...

6/10/2026 7:52pm Name a more annoying sound than an American complaining about ebikes. Honestly, we've all heard your opinions before. We know you have them. I don't really like or want an ebike either but there are 12,000,000 whingy comments online about how you're too pure or too dedicated or too fit or too angry at unskilled riders and you're mad about...

6/10/2026 1:21am That was my point, just get a longer stem or don't do it at all. Bar geometry varies a lot, bars with the same angle of sweep can have very different sweep distances because it depends where the bend in the bar actually is. You might not gain reach, or you might gain too much and have way more of...

6/10/2026 12:56am You realise rolling a bar forward is the exact same effect as a longer stem right? Both things move your hands further forward of the steering axis. If you don't like the feel of longer stems then you won't like risers rolled forward either.
AgrAde Added a reply to Reach and Stack help me out
6/9/2026 10:58pm If you want to adjust your cockpit for more "reach" then the answer is a longer stem. If that sounds unfashionable then feel free to lower your stem and run some higher rise bars rolled forward, which achieves the same thing. All you achieve by the second option is making your bars less adjustable (because bar roll changes will fuck...

6/8/2026 2:32am I'd love to see someone attempt a hydraulic damper/viscous coupling type thing rather than using friction in the derailleur clutch. Dunno if it could be made small/light/reliable but it would certainly improve shift quality and might not feel quite so gross through the suspension.

6/1/2026 5:50pm My gen3 optic + dvo diamond 36 is the same weight as the status 160 + fox 38 it replaced lol. I wouldn't call it a useless bike. It's niche as fuck, but it's excellent at what it does. It's super jibby and the suspension performance is incredible for only 125mm. It's quite stiff and very burly, and rides like...

5/31/2026 5:04pm I'd been thinking I should look into making some new shock mounts for my Optic to slightly lower it and add progression. Colour me curious.

5/31/2026 4:53pm The only way to lean a bike against a car is the rear bike tire against a car tire. Everyone always leans the pedal/crank/seat/bars etc on stuff and wonders why bikes fall over all the time. Leaning the rear tire against something stops the the bike from being able to roll at all. If you do that you can jostle...

5/20/2026 11:53pm If you have too much AS then you'll lift yourself up in the travel with every pedal stroke and have bob but in reverse and it's just as inefficient as not having enough. Ridden a couple of bikes that do that. Tends to be longer travel bikes with AS that falls a lot through the stroke - horst link, KS...

5/19/2026 12:35am I only ride mullet but would take a 29" rear wheel any day for technical climbing.

5/18/2026 12:28am I dunno, I work for a company that sells multiple brands that compete with each other on paper but have a different customer base in reality. In a similar industry. Brand differentiation works just fine if you offer a similar product that's marketed differently. Not that I think SC or GT share much at all, or ever made similar products.

5/17/2026 11:52pm I'd much rather fix a carbon bike with a damaged downtube than an aluminium bike with a crack. Between the two, my money would be on the carbon bike having the longer lifespan. Aluminium fatigue is a bitch.

5/17/2026 11:47pm 99.5% of people looking for a GT or SC would have absolutely no fucking clue what Pon is lol. GT disappeared because all they had was their heritage, and that's not enough to carry a brand indefinitely as they pumped out mostly unappealing bikes year after year. I personally don't know anyone that considered buying one in recent memory. I...

5/13/2026 6:58pm People also just get bored of one thing. We've been riding enduro bikes for years now. I ride exactly the same trails as I used to on the fleet of enduro bikes I've had over the years, but now I do it on an optic built like an enduro bike (but with 140/125 travel). Same trails, different dynamics. lots of...

5/13/2026 12:41am I feel bad already about cluttering tech rumors with a politics post. Lets leave it here and I'll let someone make/revive a politics thread if they want to bitch more. In terms of thermoplastic vs epoxy carbon and the repair of frames, are carbon repairers able to work with thermoplastic? There are two carbon repairers in my city that do...
