The point about defence spending having a positive affect on the rest of the economy- in my lectures this was talked about using the concept of the multiplier effect. This is the idea that if someone, ie the state, spends £1 on something then it increases national GDP by some amount because that’s been spent at a local supplier, who then pays wages, their employees go to the local butcher, who buys from the local farmer, etc etc. The issue with defence spending is it has a comparatively poor multiplier effect vs other forms of government spending. If I spend...

In a comment on the press release, Lenz said the fork is a prototype they can't discuss. The rear of the arch certainly looks like a prototype rather than a finished product. As for Curiak's fork... could that just be a 32" wheel stuffed into an existing 29" fork? The position of the dust wipers relative to the tire/rim suggests...

There’s also Laurie and Alex Fayoulle who kind of said that winning Lourdes ruined his career 🤷🏼‍♂️

Are you counting Brook Macdonald or Sam Blenkinsop as "active"? Not really sure if they should be on the list -- neither has formally announced retirement from racing in general, but also, neither is lining up for WCDH this season (AFAIK). But they are both one-time winners.

At least in my experience, if the clutch is seizing up (which is typically the issue for Shimano -- water ingress, leading to corrosion and very high breakaway force) it is noticeable across the entire range of the cassette. But an easy way to test that is to rotate the derailleur cage by hand with the clutch off and then...

Good for Luca to grab a win, perservance there for sure. Also two different American winners back to back, has that ever happened? Hell have there even been two different Americans to win one in a single season? Finally if they're going to just do the commentary in a studio somewhere can they get a team that understands the assignment? I feel like most of us would do a better job at being insightful, plus their timing is just ridiculous off pace, splits happening and 30 seconds until they even notice it while they're still blabbing about if they can...

I've encountered this scenario numerous times. Modern 12-speed derailleurs have less margin for error than older systems. The damage can be subtle enough that it isn't obviously visible, yet still sufficient to prevent proper shifting. If your other derailleur is working better, that's more evidence pointing to a damaged derailleur.

Most likely issues are 1. a misaligned derailleur hanger. Can be fixed with a hanger alignment gauge. (Does not require the wheel to be true, as suggested above -- just use a single point on the rim as reference.) Or, 2. the derailleur itself is bent. And unfortunately the most expedient solution in that case is to replace the derailleur...

Hey @sspomer, can you ask Rick (politely) to get some photos of the new Fox Suspension service truck? Pinkbike had one photo of the interior that looks bewilderingly large for a "truck." Would love to get a better idea of what kind of mega-whip the mechanics are rolling around in these days.

It's not, thankfully, Blister has a photo of it on their review below. It looks like it's a short spring (5mm) that preloads the piston to get it moving https://blisterreview.com/gear-reviews/manitou-mezzer-mezzer-lt-gen-2

The three World Cup DH races at Loudenvielle have had 3 different winners in both the Women’s and Men’s Elite division. 2023: Höll and Bruni 2024: Nicole and Coulanges 2025: Hemstreet and Goldstone Notes: Höll has also finished 2nd twice. Bruni has finished 4th and 15th in his other 2 races at Loudenvielle. Nicole finished 12th in 2025. She missed the 2023 race due to concussion. Coulanges finished 16th and 23rd in the other 2 races. Hemstreet’s other finish was 8th in 2023. She didn’t qualify for finals in 2024. Goldstone came in 4th in 2023. He missed the 2024...

How much of the appearance that “e-bikes are the only thing selling” is an artificial bubble based on the fact that they are a market that essentially did not exist 6-7 years ago? Thus, we are still working through the initial phase of: everyone who is interested buying into the market (often for the first time) looks like greater demand than what will stabilize over the ensuing 5-10 years. I imagine over time as there are less ‘new’ buyers and the demand becomes only individuals turning over from an older model to a newer one that e-bike sales actually drop...
