I love the big move to seat up and casually pedaling away transitions.

Fair point. That's a scenario I haven't personally encountered, but I didn't start doing lots of tubeless setups and repairs until just a few years ago, so perhaps it was somewhat before my time. I can see how a second layer might be helpful in that ... more »

I hate to disagree with your local shop, but I have never, ever found double-wrapping to lead to better results. If the first layer of tape isn't properly adhered to the rim, the second layer won't help. And if the first layer is adhered properly, the ... more »

I agree. I would recommend thoroughly cleaning and re-taping the rim. ("More tape" is absolutely not a solution.) The tape you use should span from bead to bead on the rim. Use a single layer, overlapping at the valve hole--I like to start 1-2 spoke ... more »

Kenda's launching a new Aaron Gwin signature tire, the Pinner Pro. (BikeRadar over in the UK with the 12:01 a.m. post--I'm guessing the US outlets will be out of embargo in a couple hours? Link) I hope somebody does a back-to-back test of Gwin's ... more »

I don't have a Costco membership, but I'm sure somebody I know does. How much do their microfiber towels cost? I do have a roll of disposable (paper-like) shop towels--good for detailing, or for tasks like cleaning rotors where avoiding contamination ... more »

As luck would have it, I'm running out of clean rags to use for chain cleaning and other bike maintenance tasks while stuck at home. If these were normal times, I'd probably go search the local Goodwill for some cheap towels to cut up, but I can't, so ... more »

One of the first seasons of WCDH I followed closely. Peaty in the stripes, Minnaar and Gee going down to the wire for the points... that was a good year.

Also: pretty sure this is the footage that precedes Matti walking down his trashed wheel at 3:05. I've never forgotten the sound of that wheel exploding against the tree.

I just wish SRAM wouldn't rely on the public for their product testing, then frame their corrections as upgrades. I'll be grumbling in my trash can if anyone needs me.

"It only took a few tweaks to get it just right."

... why couldn't you make those tweaks originally and not charge $25 extra (plus the other costs of service) for them?

Added reply in a thread Monarch + RC3, "STUCK DOWN" 3/31/2020 8:34 PM

Be careful with disassembly. When there is excess pressure trapped in the negative air chamber (which is the cause of air shocks getting 'stuck down'), the air sleeve may launch off of the shock body once unscrewed. Doesn't happen every time, but it's ... more »

Used to wear one of those headbands with the silicone strip on every ride. Now I'm a total convert to Bell's Sweat Guide padding. Thought it would be gimmicky but they're the only helmets I've ever owned that I can wear for hours pedaling in the heat ... more »

$2300 to sleep in a tent a foot off the ground (and have to completely unload all your bikes to do so)? If it makes you happy, I guess...

Note sure I feel about multiple illegal passes on a road like that. As a sponsor I definitely would not want to be affiliated with that video.
