It is really hard to get all of the air out of the maxima mineral oil with how thick it is. If you airate the mineral oil when you pull it into the syringe, you're almost guaranteed to have micro bubbles in it that are impossible to deal with. I am really deliberate about letting the syringes sit for 30 minute after filling them to let the air fully come out of the fluid. Also advisable to lubricate the plungers on your bleed syringes before you start so you don't have to yank them super fast to break the stiction...

Fellow Luddites rejoice. $5 in hardware and proper reuse of a destroyed derailleur: Keeping it about tech, though, this little contraption really made me want to try the Lal Supre Drive. That’s pretty stupid thing to post. I bet a lot of people here have a lot of information on hundreds of bikes that are under embargo, but we’re not dickhead so we don’t just go leaking stuff. This is for people to find stuff out in the wild and post it like if a website messes up by posting a bike early or somebody sees something in the wild or spy shots or whatever not just straight up leaking stuff from your bikeshops account

Nike made some flat pedal MTB shoes in the mid 2000s in collaboration with Andrew Shandro, the Air Whistler. They were basically stiff Nike SBs with pretty grippy (for the time) soles. Pretty cool. I had a pair. I had to do a deep stream crossing in Crested Butte, took them off, and tied them around my handlebars. One fell off and was quickly carried away. I think it was about 8 miles I had to do with one shoe back to the car. The remaining shoe lived in my trunk for a long time. Why? I don't know.
