Then the tyre would hit the lower crown at full compression. Extending the lowers is the correct way to do it.

Yeah that’s understandable which is why we would like to tend on focusing more on the gear that is used once, twice or even never at all. Thanks for the feedback.

Hi, I'm a high school student in Squamish BC and currently taking an entrepreneurship course in which we have to propose a business idea. My idea is called ProParts in which we will sell new and used excess gear from sponsored riders on consignment. So far we have commitments from a few local dh riders to take part. As part of the course we have to send out a survey to the riding community to gauge interest. I hope you can take the time to fill out the form and help us out. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSegpo2ACBxbiXq9r73oHTfyWqQTutV… Thanks, ProParts

Interesting idea. Me personally, maybe I’d be less inclined to buy some bike bits from a pro rider that rides hard… now PoserParts would be something I’d be into! Brand new fancy kit that’s barely been used. Wink

Watching the RAW last night I was shocked at how ‘straya that track is! Just maybe a wee bit steeper… Hope it gives the Aussies an edge! Gonna be such a sick race.

Re: IMBA (and other trail associations) besides them building almost exclusively flow trails, I find the biggest drawback is the mob mentality of people that take part. -Come in and gaslight local government into letting them be the judge jury and executioner regarding how the entire trail system will be built and managed moving forward. -Build exclusively flow. (Requires excavators) -Gaslight local government into requiring parking permits to support excavator trails people didn’t ask for. Parking used to free. -Extended and unnecessary trail closures whenever it even slightly rains. “It’ll ruin the flow berms bro, be a good trail steward...

I disagree. The effects you cite are second order at best and debatable in comparison to wheel size rollover when explicitly considering XC racing. Most of the womens xc field already looks to be at the fit limit with 29”. But honestly, I don’t personally care about competitive XC beyond occasionally watching the racing.
I will put it plainly. Big people on little wheels -> frames can accommodate their size => no practical advantage Little people on big wheels -> frames cannot accommodate their size => practical disadvantage There is a fundamental physical advantage for bigger wheels relative to smaller ones in mildly bumpy terrain (XC like). Smaller riders cannot practically access this advantage...

Annual winter project: Finished. Meet the 'Ghetto-Enduro' Summum. It’s now rocking an 11-36t cassette and—as you can clearly see—a 'technically wireless' 125mm dropper. I’m still a bit unsure about the chain length, so I'll need to double-check that it doesn't max out in the 36t cog when a heavy rider is sitting comfortably in the saddle. As for the seatpost, I looked at a 175mm Reverb AXS, but at that price point, it’s literally cheaper to just buy a second bike. She’s not pretty, but she’s my weapon of choice for Finale Ligure for this spring.

I think this is a great valid question. Here's my two cents on how to make a bike flickable/playful/poppy/unstable (four words that mean basically the same thing in MTCool : 1. Shorter chainstays. This has been beaten to death. 2. Higher BB. As others have said, your bike is more stable front to back when your feet are below the axles, and less stable when your feet are above them. 3. Smaller wheels. A mullet is more "flickable" than a 29" bike, and a dual 650 bike is going to be more unstable than a mullet bike. 26" bikes are king...

Exactly why Dylan is a good example that the bike is almost insignificant. The difference between the two types of riders I outlined is that racers are actually racing. But fun havers are still just having fun, so there’s no posing Wink

If you still don’t get it go watch a Dylan Siggers edit. I personally don’t care for any of this navel gazing though. What makes a bike “flickable”? The rider. Are some bikes more “flickable” than others? Yes. Some people wanna have fun and others wanna pretend racer boi/gal, different strokes.
