But why run T-Type then, why not just runt he old Eagle stuff? And then when you're at it, why not run an X01 Eagle derailleur? Granted, at some point X01 derailleurs will be a thing of the past, especially with Sram replacing the Eagle gen with 'new' derailleurs where the best cable actuated option is essentially GX, so that's a point where you go for the Jab. But until then, why bother with T-Type?

Three gears in the front and seven in the back could be the perfect ratio for mountain biking! It's almost like it would give you three different gear "ranges" using the front shifter- one for climbing, one for descending, and one for everything in between. And the chain alignment could be so much straighter without having to pack all your gears onto one super wide cassette. I wonder why no one's thought of that yet? I can't think of any downsides.

Right foot forward and the only time I broke a derailleur was when I jumped and landed sideways when I was in the largest cog. The derailleur was pulled into the spokes and that was it. An old 9spd X9 derailleur. What I have done multiple times is park the derailleur sideways into a rock, onto a wooden ledge, bent the hanger, etc. but always just straightened the hanger and rode on. For the past 7 years exclusively on X01 derailleurs (two separate ones on 2 separate bikes.

I’m a sucker for trying out grips -- it’s apparently really easy to get me to go “hey, it’s $40, why not” -- and having spent a bunch of time this year trying out thicker grips, it was a profound relief to put my old pair of ODI Vanquish D3Os and not have to think about grips anymore. I don’t know if it’s the D3O or just the size/pattern, but I can just grab ‘em and rip for hours.

On gearboxes, I don’t think the average rider cares as much about efficiency as we think. We’re seeing this play out with radial tires. Less efficient, more grip. Everyone wants them. We forget bikes are products, not some B2B contract deliverable that has to meet a spec sheet. What tech could realistically convince everyone who has an amazing bike now (and probably got it on sale) to drop $6k+ on a new bike? Maybe it’s gearboxes, maybe it isn’t, but there’s no denying they’re in the running. If the industry wants to sell me a new park/DH frame to replace...

Are all of you guys really flipping your climb switch multiple times per ride? If we really, really want electronic suspension, why not just a simple solenid that flips your suspension closed when your power meter hits a configurable threshold, with nothing else? That could be $100.

Have you even looked at the hubs to try and remove the drag? I took the end cap wipers out and the grease stayed clean over six months of riding. They run better than 350's in my experience
