I typically use the climb switch once per ride. I like to turn it on halfway up the climb when I remember I have it and might as well use it. I tend to turn it off halfway down the descent when I’m puzzling over why my suspension isn’t working. I suspect I am not in the minority.

In the riders relevant measurements i see that Johans "Thing" measures 53 cm. I don't know how that's relevant but damn i'm impressed.

Neither the Eddy Current nor the Albert are good rear tread patterns for the trails I ride. Their Soft rubber is the same, and will wear just as fast. Having more knobs doesn't change that. Fresh High Roller 3 and DHR 2 today felt great and predictable - I like being able to feel what the tire knobs are doing.

Codahale, not surprised to hear this. I found the MM radial a good all arounder. It does everything pretty well and does loamier dirt in the San Juan high country really well. To me it doesn't quite have that same level of locked in when leaning feel that the TC seems to, like a DHF, but it certainly hooks up fine and doesn't seem to need as much of a committed lean as the TC does to bite fairly well in natural bermless corners. The TC does seem to have more outright cornering grip when ya commit and lean on...

Thanks. No probably not a balanced combo, though unbalanced combos seem to work well at my local. Currently running an ethirteen all terrain front, ethirteen optimus rear (the optimus has survived despite some casing weepage and 2 small slashes that the DIY sealant sealed immediately). Previous combo (and my favourite so far) was WTB Judge front, WTB Trail Boss rear.

Agreed that this motor/CVT is predictable, inevitable, and nonetheless a really BFD for the ebike market and makers of traditional derailleur-driven drivetrains. I know I'm going to sound like a broken record here, but high performance eMTB sales represent a very small market, whereas the real effects of this are going to be seen in the touring/commuter/pavement pounder market. I'd wager Shimano and SRAM sells 100 times more derailleurs/shifters/cassettes to the touring/commuter/pavement pounder ebike market vs. what they sell for high end eMTBs.

The original post feels like a prank because there is no front tire with more consistent grip than the Assegai because it was specifically designed to eliminate the dead zone between the center grip and the side knobs. Before the Assegai, the primary Maxxis DH front tires were either the DHF, DHR2, or the High Roller 2, each of which featured a large gap between the side knobs and center knobs. As others have mentioned, it's that gap that creates the "dead zone" between hooking and sliding on the DHR2 and High Roller 2, and especially on the DHF. In...

I got my first ride on these today. I'll get more in the coming week I'm sure. I paired them with a grip change to Wolf Tooth's lockon grips. For a little background, I have pretty significant neuropathy problems in both of my arms due to long running Cubital Tunnel syndrome. I've had surgery but the pain still exists when I ride and sometimes it still lingers after. My problems are somewhat the opposite of Joe's, his seem to stem from being highly athletic and having forearm pump, mine stem from sitting behind a computer since I was 8 years...
