1 day ago The main thing I’ve learned about handlebar setup is that it’s entirely individual, so you just have to try different things. Once you find what you like, then you can go looking for the most successful racer that has their bars set up like yours so you can argue on forums. Personally, I’m an “Aaron Gwin and I roll our...

5/15/2026 3:14pm Slowly been fiddling with the Tacky Chan Trail Pro 2.5 Soft tire pressures. I’m up to 30/33 psi and I think I’m finally at the point where I’m comfortable with the support. Running lower pressures gave a silly amount of grip, but pushing into corners with the front or pumping or preloading the rear felt like an absolute gamble. It...

5/14/2026 2:04pm Old man/ old eyes hack. If you have presbyopia( the loss of the ability for your eyes to focus on close objects) you most likely have your fix with you. Curl your index finger tightly until there is only a small gap. Bring this close to your eye and look through it at what you’re trying to focus on. This small aperture is the same thing a camera lens uses to increase depth of field. It’s not perfect, but it may get you by. I have a 2.0 diopter close up correction and this works for me if I don’t...

5/13/2026 7:12pm Surely not every bike fits everyone, but I do think people freak out over mere millemeters when the fact is - you can get used to just about anything. Its just fucking bikes. I've got an XL GT Fury with 515 reach & 70mm bars: best DH bike I've ever had in 20+ years... a 2019 YT capra with 480 reach and 50mm bars: super fun, still going strong. A size L 2023 Marin Alpine with 490 reach and 35mm...no 50mm... no 80mm bars. Super fun. I move around on these bikes, jump them all mercilessly and continue to get...

5/13/2026 7:10pm Conventional wisdom up until a week ago would have said this setup is unrideable and has no place at a World Cup. The fact that they were even in touch with these bikes demonstrates that there are still lots of places to go and things to explore re: bike geometry/fit

5/12/2026 2:08pm Here's a new one from this past weekend - catching up on maintenance doing a brake bleed. Need to clean the pads off so I go to my shelf of flammable /aerosol cans in my garage. Brain is on autopilot, I thought I grabbed the brake cleaner and sprayed a set of pads was confused by the smell. Turns out I grabbed penetrating oil.

5/12/2026 2:07pm “Why do these new grips feel like crap?” weeks pass “Why does my right grip have a big L on the end? … Oohhhhh” I also found myself the other day mistaking the ft-lb scale on my new torque wrench for the Nm scale so now I’m wondering what bolts on my bike are fighting for their lives rn.

5/8/2026 5:51pm I thought downhill was governed by what makes the sport look cool and not by what makes it faster, you can’t tell me that banning a skin suit due to the majority of male athletes being self conscious in the search of speed is any different to putting a massive stupid looking wheel on the front of a bike to make it look like a Penny farthing ? If 32” wheels are allowed then so should ski suits be allowed if it’s helping gain speed in a sport that can come down to thousands of a second missing qualifying! On...

5/8/2026 5:37pm Tacky Chan rolls faster than Albert and is a lot easier to initiate a drift in (rear). That was one of my issues with Albert also - it was really hard to consistently get it to slide into corner pockets. TC behaves a lot like a DHR in that regard.

5/6/2026 9:03am my 2 cents after spending some time on the bike is that I really want to spend more time on the bike. A couple anecdotes here: I was surprised at how well it pedalled and the lack of heft that I was expecting after looking at it. After giving it back for a month I had to film on it with no time to get familiar again. First trail was a rapid North Van classic that I have ridden a bunch and I was immediately sending it. It was extremely poppy while still being planted, able to pull for all...

5/4/2026 9:19am It’s kinda crazy that they still don’t understand how splits work. ie - The (#) is the split ranking. Green vs red is just against the leaders sum. They will say something like “he’s the fastest thru the 1st section” just because it’s green. When it reality they are maybe 10th and the leader was 11th.
