I listened to the episode and found it interesting. I have to wonder if some of it is that taller riders are just historically used to bikes with shorter RCs so that’s what test riders end up preferring. Santa Cruz also talked about changes they make when making a bike for taller or shorter riders on their Tallboy episode of The Roller Door and while they didn’t go into detail as much as the Spot discussion, the takeaway was kinda the same that shorter riders preferred longer RCs and taller riders preferred shorter RCs

Guys I think you are reaching too far in to this - VPP was never any better or worse than other links out there, but the new layout makes a lot of sense from a packaging perspective so there are many legitimate reasons for the change. Also no disrespect to GT, but they haven't had a massive impact for a while as far as I can tell, but SC has plenty of good resources of their own - there is no reason they would be looking to GT for ideas

I've done similar procedures to brakes since forever - sram guide, shimano saint, most formulas. People have always moaned about different brakes but its just a case of knowing all the methods of making them work well. I guess people learn a certain way of working on brakes, which has worked fine up until they encounter something different like the maven and all of a sudden they struggle. I see similar things with wheel building, hubs, suspension and drive trains where they only learned one generic way to work on a part, instead of understanding how they actually function

I completely disagree. My Murmur is horrendous with a coil shock. Even with a 23% sag setup and a can creek progressive rate spring I can bottom it out in a parking lot without ever leaving the ground . Riding it on trail , it feels great on small chatter . But bottoms out ever 15 seconds on even mild rock sections , let alone jumps. Rode it twice with the coil and immediately put the air shock back on with most of the volume spacers . Of all the reviews I have seen online, nobody is complaining about the progression or bottoming out all the time. And if JKW didn't immediately fill it with volume spacers, then I think there is some overreaction here.
