I really like where you're going with that, but it seems like any decent epoxy/resin in the quantity I need is fairly expensive. I should've mentioned from the start that I'm trying to keep this on a fairly tight budget. I'll definitely keep this idea in the back of my mind though...

Something to keep in mind.. There are more aspects of capitalism creeping into the business sector of China.. They are figuring out really quick what they need to do to succeed. Combined with the speed of communication in the internet age and international shipping being relatively easy, the pieces are in play for China to shake up the bike biz. What they haven't learned will be learned in a short time. They will hire the right people..

Sorry to veer back into politics. The fact that Chinese brands are now offering support, making returns easy for flawed products, offering legitimate warranties, etc is going to be the hardest thing for western companies to compete with. Over the course of my lifetime I and pretty much everyone I know has watched western companies backtrack what they offer the consumer. And our government roll back all sorts of consumer protections and make little attempt to hold bad actors accountable. And the bad actors are the biggest banks and companies in the nation. What is left to western brands? Innovate on less tangible aspects of bike development that only comes to light if you're a passionate (ab)user of the product you're developing and/or selling. And figure out the marketing tactic as you're also essentially on the receiving end of it and understand it from the buyer's perspective. If you're a big factory you can copy all you want. Or hire consultants to do quick development (suspension layouts, geometries and the like). Pretty sure that case went back to the original maestro bikes in 2005 that didn't have a shared lower link/shock mount. Probably why they changed it later!
