Hey guys, quick question: the thumbs down button is for when someone doesn’t like the product I’ve turned into my whole personality, right?

There is a hole in the lineup though when it comes to radial Schwalbes. The Albert is a killer hardpack/ loose over hardpack rear tire on an Enduro or aggressive e-bike. It even makes an impressive front TRAIL bike tire in hardpack. It also wears really well. But the Albert was fully inadequate for my e-bike up front. The MM Radial is very, very good, but it's still too much a loam dirt type tread pattern for aggressive use up front in hardpack & loose over hardpack. It skates around unpredictably and folds over at times. Schwalbe needs an Assagai/...

Regarding this 'too many bearings' thing I'm imagining those infomercials where the actor over dramatically struggles with something and loses conttol but its bearings and they go flying all over the place.

Thank you everyone for the solidarity. Update for today. Attempt number I don’t know what anymore I’ve lost count. The friction of rubber on gorilla tape is like it has glued itself the the bead of the Tyre and it takes me over an hour just to get the bead of the Tyre to move away from edge of the rim and drop into the rim bed. I’m so sweaty I look like I’ve just got out of a pool and my thumbs and forearms are no longer useable body parts. I work in concrete construction everyday and this is...

Jeff, I've given this a lot of thought, and it’s unclear to me whether you’re making a true “Ship of Theseus” argument in this post, or if you’re merely arguing from various component parts of the argument that we collectively refer to as the “Ship of Theseus.”

I miss when people used to draw silly little drawings of things. They were fun and whimsical and now its like "oh, a computer made that with no effort" and it takes the fun out of the photos.

Yeah good question. The 2.5 DHR2 measured out at a true 63mm at the casing and 64mm at the knobs on my 30mm rear ethirteen rim, which is 2.48” and 2.52” respectively. So I’d say yes, that’s a true 2.5”. I always thought the 2.4” DHR2 was undersized and didn’t love it as a rear tire for that exact reason- I’m hard on rear wheels and tires and I want that extra volume as insurance for bad decisions. On the one hand, I feel like a crazy person if I say I can feel an additional 0.1” of tire width...

Don't forget, this is brought to you by the same people as the Design & Innovation Awards, the self-proclaimed "Oscar of the Bike & Outdoor Industry." A judged contest that is free to enter, but 3,450 Euro (plus VAT) to claim if you are the lucky recipient of the precious award. Need more cash, just add more categories for brands to enter, and then select (extort) winning products most likely to pay the ransom.

Their enduro team was done last year but they graciously kept me on board for this year with my contract having another year on it. Sounds obvious of course, but the bike industry isn't always so giving. The DH team took me in and I had a blast all year long, which was the main reason for doing DH at the end of the year. I just wanted to hang out with the team some more, and who wouldn't take the chance to race World Cup DH while they can. As for next year, stay tuned.

Not a rumor and not innovation per se, but yeah - Öhlins just unveiled their new visual identity. Y'all probably still don't know how to pronounce it though... :-) https://www.vitalmtb.com/news/press-release/ohlins-unveils-new-visual-i….

As I get older, I’ve come to really appreciate “culture” as a larger driving force than we tend to acknowledge. You can grab attention fast with a stunt, but lasting viewership takes time, many decades, for the underlying culture to mature. It has little to do with broadcast length, equipment, or announcers. Those things help add iterative improvement to what exists, but for mountain biking to become truly mainstream, the only real solution is time. Remember, people spend countless hours watching golf, baseball, the Tour de France, and plenty of other sports that can seem “boring” at first glance. The...
