I generally want to know if brands have any plans to improve long-term support on their products - especially anything electronic and electric motors. Are any of them planning on building a platform with a motor that can be repaired or upgraded/replaced over time? And are they going to be locked to an app that can disappear in a few years, or do they have EOL plans that let you keep using them as long as you want once its been discontinued? Avinox seems to be doing the drop-in upgrade part of that, but long term mechanical and app support...

Got the new tires. These things feel burly af. The gravity pro casing is noticeably more firm in hand than the regular radial gravity casing. The new TC pattern looks great too. Looking forward to shredding these.

Neko Mulally is racing a Frameworks with a 32" front wheel and 29" rear wheel for Sea Otter downhill. He says he's been riding a bit back at home and had to purchase the front tire online (1 of 2 that he could find). He's surprised by the traction but did indicate that if it broke free, it broke free without warning. He was able to cram in a 29" rear wheel despite the rear triangle being made for 27.5. His philosophy is that it's worth the experiment to figure out if there's something more to pursue and he'll let...

As a data point of one, our house in rural CA is almost completely off grid. We just upgraded to new solar panels, single LiIon battery, and inverter, mostly from Midnite Solar. We can run the house for 2-3 days on a single day of sun, without much in the way of conservation. With two or three batteries that would be even more. With California utility rates, I expect the cost of the system to break even in less than 4 years. Plus, no outages. That said, we just bought our first ever new car and went with a hybrid...

Looks like Specialized also quietly launched updated ground control and purgatory (renamed now trail control) with lighter casing (quoted weight are for 29x2.35 or 2.4) but still T7 and T9 softer option available and as per specialized habit, price are relatively low: Trail Control Grid Trail T7 930g Trail Control Grid Lite T9 (also available in T7 compound) 860g Ground Control Grid Lite T5/T7 840g Ground Control Flex Lite T5/T7 770g

Yes, this is the tire many are wanting/waiting for. Would be a good Mary replacement as well. But Mary has such a following, they won't replace it. So, at least bring this one out to the public!

This one?? I’m really hoping it’s sooner rather than later, seems like it could be a fantastic option as a front tire. @schwalbai, should I be patient???

@jasbushey For our trails around Durango, I am really digging the radials with a Magic Mary trail pro radial super soft up front (21-22 psi) and the Albert trail pro soft in the rear (24-25psi), no inserts. Today I ordered a Tacky Chan trail pro radial super soft for the front and Tacky Chan trail pro soft radial soft for...

Tbh I don’t get what the hang up is regarding dual crown comparability. I think that’s more of legal dept. jargon vs its actual capability. Toss a 40 on that hoss and don’t look back. If a frame can take a pro-level rider and a zeb, there’s zero reason it can’t take a dual crown.

Not at the headset cup I put an MRP extended crown race on a rigid fork for +10mm ATC and it works perfectly. Although this is a rigid bikepacking type setup on my hardtail. This is better than an extended headset cup for my particular use case since I can switch back and forth with a suspension fork where I don't want the increased height. link Pinner Machine Shop makes what you're looking for though: https://pinnermachineshop.com/en-us/products/hedraiser

I've used both the cane creek 5mm and the MRP 10mm crown race with a cane creek headset on a yeti sb150 with great results. Only downside is the crown race in both cases doesn't have a rubber lip to seal the bearing. Wasn't a big deal where I live in SW CO, but if you live in a muddy...

I know it’s a bit short on travel and many consider it “down country”, but I am sure loving my new Epic Evo. It’s light and pretty damn capable on the trails I ride in Virginia.

I spent a good chunk of last night trying to evaluate DJI's move through the lens of business and corporate strategy. While it might sound far-fetched, I genuinely believe DJI could be making a move that fundamentally changes the landscape of the e-mtb industry. A few thoughts: Amflow: I have it on good authority that Fox's number one customer is Amflow. If true, that should signal to the industry that Amflow is not a demo product. It's a company going after the likes of Specialized, Trek, Giant and other major incumbents. To add, there is nothing holding them back from...

I just really hope they’re not sacrificing the whole industry for a few good quarters because that’s kinda what it feels like with them flirting with higher and higher power numbers.

Funny you should mention the Edge 22. I tried one about 16 months ago. That tire has phenomenal cornering traction and it rolls fast and brakes just fine as well. The dual row of long and stout but not that tall side knobs hook up really well for turning. The rubber compound was a bit hard and it had a...
