While I’ll never own one, I have to give credit to specialized for creating this. It’s giving me nostalgia vibes from the late 90’s/early 00’s when there was a lot of weird and wacky experimentation in DH. At a shop level, there's just a lack of capability in repairs for electric motors. You'd have to start hiring and training at an entirely new level that does not exist currently and will constantly keep shifting over the new few years. Other than a few weeks long courses, the only real training out there for shop staff is time and the older guy in the bike shop they work with and that guy doesn't exist yet for ebikes. You think if internal combustion motors were a new invention now they would be built to be disposable? Why are electronics so disposable, but things like IC motors are not? I have to imagine the material and engineering cost is far lower on electronic motors compared to IC motors right? I still don't know where I stand on e-bikes fully. On the surface the value proposition seems obvious, but once you start really thinking about them compared to normal bikes it starts to get tricky. They are just so much more complicated than a normal bike, kinda ruins the lighthearted...

sure looks like it! chatting w/ him a fair bit before the race, he figured rolling speed was the biggest factor in doing well at sea otter. the side knobs of the aspen were "good enough for the corners" (large contact patch seemed to hold well) and the only sketch braking on the track was really short (after the uphill). apparently the strategy worked.

I impulse-bought a set of the same, despite trying and hating the Albert. Glad to hear the tread works well on CO trails. I’m hoping I can pin down the right tire pressure with a bracketing session or two. I impulse bought a set of the TC Gravity Pros also, but haven't ridden them yet. The new tread pattern looks WAY more conventional than the old TC, very similar to a DHR... which is a great thing IMO. Kit Works Gear Storage Kitworks makes a bunch of storage solutions to help organize gear for basically any activity. Everything is super modular and durable, and I’ve been using one of their gear boxes in my van for the past year to keep bleed kits and spare parts neatly packed away but readily available.
