7/5/2026 2:28am There are some pretty tough engineering challenges that need to be overcome before gearboxes can find their way into mainstream pedal MTBs. They pretty much have to be fully enclosed, as lubricated gears at BB height would never survive otherwise. That's a lot of material to form that enclosure. Perhaps some use of really tough fiber-filled thermo-plastics could offset some of this weight, but the GB is also the bash guard, and there are a lot of internal stresses that the shell has to handle. Due to material properties of even the most exotic metals, the gears really can't get...

6/30/2026 8:32am The electronic suspension/high pivot/stand up and pedal convo is the dumbest thing to happen to tech rumors in a long time. Banal, illogical, myopic.

6/15/2026 7:58am Code haters are just exhausting people. Codes are fine, always will be. Just because a maven exists. Remember, at one point WC downhillers had guides on their bikes. And guides suddenly became the worst brakes of all time the same day codes got released… time is a flat circle

6/15/2026 2:44am The PB article though, seems to show the fatty discs from the saint protos. Side-note, amusing they use non-SRAM UDH in marketing.

6/12/2026 12:09am Imagine looking through your gear bag and choosing white pants for a day like that. More importantly, it would be super interesting if the Specialized team riders were using steel stanchions, but I feel like there's no way that can be correct. Even if they didn't care about weight, they would either be a) enormously stiffer than alloy stanchions, in a bad way, or b) require paper thin stanchion walls, new top caps and hardware, and couldn't use any of the same internal seal sizes (although I don't know if the Ohlins DH38 uses any seals that interface with the...
