I’m going to buy a simple basic FW and then spend the price difference on riding lessons and fitness.

Totally, more detail about where is thinks the bicycle industry is headed and how Trek plans to navigate it would’ve been a lot more interesting and informative than knowing about his reading habits!

Yeah, I just read it this morning in full and agree, much better than my initial glance suggested. If anything, it was a bit vanilla but he didn't come off as many CEOs do. What I do wonder though is what is really going through his mind day to day during this trying time for Trek, because I don't think its "what book should I read next".

I actually liked the article. Whether any of it’s true or not is a different story, but calling out military spending and Milton Friedman is awesome in my book.

Im calling it. 15 years from now Santa Cruz will unveil their ultra light and strong innovative single pivot bike… But only after Specialize fails to patent it with the most complex reasoning as to why their 1 bolt surrounded by bearings is Special. All jokes aside, components are so good now days and frames are becoming heavier, Id heavily consider a well designed carbon single pivot bike for weight savings and just peace of mind simplicity. I know this is not a rumor but it aint my fault no one is innovating.

I think the one advantage a US operations based bike company may have (for the longest time into the future) when compared to a Chinese company is accessible customer support. The number of warranty issues I’ve had with bike frames and suspension products has to be close to 50%. I’m currently working through a multi-frame warranty issue as we speak...
To each their own. I don’t own either (and won’t anytime in the near future), but I would take a Surron before an e-bike everyday of the week if it was for personal use. (I would only ride the Surron on trails designated for motorized use or private property where I had explicit permissions)

The original post feels like a prank because there is no front tire with more consistent grip than the Assegai because it was specifically designed to eliminate the dead zone between the center grip and the side knobs. Before the Assegai, the primary Maxxis DH front tires were either the DHF, DHR2, or the High Roller 2, each of which featured a large gap between the side knobs and center knobs. As others have mentioned, it's that gap that creates the "dead zone" between hooking and sliding on the DHR2 and High Roller 2, and especially on the DHF. In...

Fair, but there had to be a better name than ‘Rhapsody’. Someone still got paid to think up that name. It’s cumbersome to say and at least for me all it invokes is George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” and United Airlines commercials from the 1990s Why not just call it ‘Crankworx Whistler Slopestyle’. EDIT: it also reminds me of how...

Let’s take one of the most iconic names and branding in freeride mountain biking and change it to some word that is at best vaguely connected and much less convenient to say. Whoever got paid to greenlight this definitely shouldn’t have.

Crazy that Red Bull no longer wants their name associated with an event that raises important, totally relevant questions like; Who advances to the Slopestyle Super League Playoffs at Crankworx SilverStar (August 6–9) Who earns a bye and goes straight to the Slopestyle Super League Finals at Crankworx Mont-Sainte-Anne (September 3–7) Whose Slopestyle Super League season ends here I know my favourite part of major slopestyle events is not knowing who's going to be prevented from competing in future, less prestigious slopestyle events. Because playoffs.

I have my 9yr old on a mega mini mullet. Front is 24" and the rear is 20" inch. It's a hardtail with a Manitou kids fork, it looks like an old school freeride hardtail with a Monster T. He dug out an old white Chromag seat from my spares pile and put it on, the proportions of the adult saddle to the small kids bike is again like old school freeride with those massive Tioga seats. I should take some pictures of it.

It is chainless, but I think you need cranks still to be able to offset your feet vertically to some degree when cornering. It’s one on the principle biomechanical differences between how you corner on a bike and a moto. Those pedal pegs don’t allow that and thus I think they would not be fun to ride. I have tried...

This is wild and speaks to different people’s experiences. I dislike the DHF because I don’t think it offers any improved cornering grip and the grip that is there is vague and hard to tell when you’re near the limit. The Assegai on the other hand has better grip overall and I can tell better where I am at relative...
