Notes on some of the Elite men riders at Val di Sole Currently active riders with Elite wins at Val di Sole: Gwin* (4 wins), Am. Pierron (2), Goldstone (2, including last year), Vergier (1), Hart (1, World Champs 2016). * [Edit: as @chriskief has pointed out, Aaron Gwin won't be racing this weekend. I just assumed he was on the US team. Sorry for the error.] Til and Max Alran went 1-2 at Val di Sole in 2025 as Juniors. Max qualified 1st in both 2024 and 2025 and won in 2024. Til went 16th in 2024. World Cup...

Oh man all this talk about the Canucks racing at home, in Whistler, makes me so excited that I got the time off and have my room booked for the show. Finn is always a threat at home. Jackie Boy is hitting his stride and ready to throw down. And I just know Miss Gracey is right at home on the 1199 track. Having 3 actual podium threats living in the area where they all grew up and it's gonna be electric! Long live Chainsaw!

Notes on a few of the women in the 2026 Downhill World Championships: Vali Höll: She has won the last 4 Elite World Champs. She also won twice as a Junior. Vali has won 1 Elite race at Val di Sole and 1 as a Junior. She’s had 5 podiums in 7 races there (combined Junior/Elite). Myriam Nicole: Myriam has won 2 World Champs, the most recent in 2021 at Val di Sole. She’s had 11 podiums in 16 World Champs races. Including World Cups, at Val di Sole she has won 3 times and finished second 5 times (one...

Let me know if I'm figuring something wrong here, but: If Vali Höll places 5th or higher in the final she clinches the Overall with 2 races remaining. This was her 4th time this year leading Q1 qualifying. She won the other 3 races after doing that. Jonty Williamson needs just 70 points over the next 3 races - including tomorrow's final - to win the Junior men's Overall. (He's averaging about 52 points per race.) With Lina Frener (2nd place in the standings) missing this race, Aletha Ostgaard is in the driver's seat, holding a 75 point lead over...

I said " we haven't seen a long travel single crown 32" fork yet," and I can see how that might have been unclear. What I meant to communicate was "Gee, that black RSU fork sure doesn't look like a Fox 32 or Neko's crazy loctite Fox 40, which are the only 32" Fox forks we've seen so far. I wonder what RSU fork that is. It sure looks like a Fox, and it could even be a dedicated long travel single crown 32" fork from Fox, which would be newsworthy because 32" bikes and products from the big brands...

There's a couple interesting things going on here. First, we haven't seen a long travel single crown 32" fork yet, only Neko's loctite-miracle 32" DH fork and the various spindly 32" XC forks. But here it looks like maybe a Fox 36 with 140mm of travel? Maybe? Also, when Neko ran the 32"/29" mega mullet at Sea Otter, he was runnings the absolute lowest profile Conti rear tire he could to sneak it past the seatstay and chainstay bridges without rubbing. But on this model, the normally all black carbon seatstay is half silver and half black, making me wonder...

Finn is freshly 27. Which is why no one is talking about him retiring. Tahnee is early 30s. Which is when most mtb pros have traditional started to look at hanging it up. And again I personally think she had a lot more reasons to stick around racing a few years. Including the fact that if she wants kids she can family plan with her doctors to do it later than most women traditionally have been able to. The big 26 as you call it means women have a ton of options. And I’m personally grateful of this since my...

And many folks don't want children at all. I think the real problem stems from discussing non-athletic, personal life things when the person being discussed is a dedicated, lifelong athlete and the discussion is happening in a space dedicated to the discussion of that athletic pursuit. What if your coworkers at every meeting brought up how fucking inept you are at home and that time you threw a tantrum because the sink nozzle was still set to spray rather than stream? Has anyone talked about Finn retiring to become a father? He probably only has a few prime years of...

Thanks for your reply. The uncertainty is why I originally posed my question. It would be a shame if they had to cancel the race, but it would be devastating to lose your home, livelihood, pet, or loved one because of a natural disaster. Peace and steady rain to the south of Europe.

Woah, stop stop stop, please, This thread is wild. Yes Les Gets is a long way from Bordeaux, where the fires there are getting the most press. However there are fire's all over the country and surrounding countries of Europe. Yes it does rain a lot in the northern French Alps, but over the past few years the number of strong, violent thunderstorms has increased. These are frequently difficult to forecast and often very localised. Where I now live, often seems to miss the storms, where as friends 20 minutes drive away still get hammered. Even Meteo Suisse struggle to...

I am in the Alps right now, in Morzine, just over the hill from Les Gets. We are a long way from Bordeaux and no sign of smoke etc. Hope the various wildfires across Europe can be brought under control and everyone stays safe, but don't expect it to affect the WC.

Right off the bat, I want to wish safety and peace to anyone in France who has been affected by the wildfires happening in Europe.
