7/2/2026 1:23pm If you were looking for an O-chain compatible Shimano crank for DH, I've wondered before if you could just use XT 8130 (Superboost) cranks on 83mm shell bikes without the 4.5mm spindle spacers on both sides? How would a 73mm shell with 9mm of spindle spacers be functionally different than a 83mm shell with no spacers (other than the 1mm...

6/26/2026 10:42am What a sticky situation. Surprised by some of the characters wrapped up in it. Will we get yet another statement, or will the newly named party stay quiet?

6/22/2026 8:08am Funn is fully vertically integrated(like Fratelli/aka Spank), they even own the brothel they entertain product managers at! Being an actual manufacturer gives a brand like Funn a lot more margin to work with.

6/12/2026 9:43am I was listening to a road biking podcast recently. One of the guests on the podcast is currently a DS for a bigger team and used to be a world tour rider. One of the things that came up in discussion is how absolutely insane the new generation of riders are. They are SO fast. They are SO good in their training. They are SO dialed in their nutrition and recovery. The guest made a point to bring up an interesting-to-me factoid: They can't let the younger riders anywhere near the big-name riders during team training rides. None of them...

6/10/2026 8:38am Fallacy or not, if our domestic manufacturing capacity is contingent on wreaking havoc in the Middle East and the global south then I want nothing to do with it. Based on the tidbits shared above, it sounds like our domestic production capacity only exists because the ruling class can’t afford to outsource defense manufacturing without the risk of it being used against them (see Westmag drones) but they’re happy to sell us out for everything else. It may support the workforce but that’s just happenstance as evidenced by them actively trying to replace human labor with AI without any plan...

6/3/2026 11:45am I think there's a business case to be made for lower-cost park bikes now that many peoples' primary bikes are eMTBs. Back in the day, my cohort of friends had a trail bike and a DH bike. Later, I feel like it became an enduro bike and a lighter trail bike (aka downcountry). Now, I imagine a lot of mountain...

6/3/2026 11:33am In a comment on the press release, Lenz said the fork is a prototype they can't discuss. The rear of the arch certainly looks like a prototype rather than a finished product. As for Curiak's fork... could that just be a 32" wheel stuffed into an existing 29" fork? The position of the dust wipers relative to the tire/rim suggests maybe.

6/3/2026 11:32am The serial number on the pic can be read as "1270890-0002-T" which translates to Description: Bomber Z2, 29in, Marzocchi, 130, RAIL 2.0, Sweep-Adj, Shiny Blk, Neutral/Gloss Blk Logo, 15QRx110, 1.5 T, 58HT, 44mm Rake, YG, AM I suppose the lowers might be from something else.

6/3/2026 10:39am Good spot. Mike Curiak looks to have a Marzocchi on his Lenz 32". Different looking casting arch, however –– and his looks to have basically no tire clearance?

5/21/2026 3:02pm Not much to add, but kudos to these replies so far. Good stuff. There's a lot of homogenization in bikes and parts lately –– many existing/continuing products are losing their character and new ones are less differentiated. I think that's partly due to design by committee, data-driven decisions, and brands being generally conservative coming out of the post-pandemic darkness. Add...

4/30/2026 1:34pm Yeah, I still really like my Nebo Peak with the Ride60 drive unit. Mine started making a grinding noise pretty early on, but it was warrantied and replaced before it ever died. The replacement drive unit hasn't had any issues. I wish I had the newer, slightly larger battery. But I can get ~20 miles and 3,500' without being too...

4/30/2026 8:05am Fuel prices are driving shipping costs lately, and that's only going to get worse. Soon, EU packaging regulations will drive costs even higher. Add tariffs into the mix and it's increasingly difficult for smaller brands to offer physical goods globally, especially large, high-value items.
