Fabian Barel just walked by and he says it’s sandy enough that it shouldn’t pack the tires too much, but they’ll keep an eye on it and try to manage the current slick conditions.

Keep a look out here this weekend because I'm marshaling and sector managing all day Friday and Saturday (Sunday is for spectating). If there's enough cell service I'll try to get some quick phone photos or line choice markups posted like last year.

I just want the Glory to be aluminum, at least the front triangle.

I've been doing the same thing with my old VHS tapes! I've gone through about 5 tapes so far, about 50 to go. I made a whole new Youtube channel just for it - Downhill Rewind 1997 Deer Valley 1998 Deer Valley

First post/link was blocked? US Open weekend feels like the right time for a 30-year throwback to the classic NORBA National era. I’ve been slowly digitizing and archiving all our old 90s VHS tapes so this history doesn't get lost. Here’s the 1996 Deer Valley National broadcast on ESPN. My better half, Leigh Donovan, took the double win in Elite Women’s DH and Dual Slalom that weekend! It was an awesome event, though as the team wrench back then, I vividly remember we went through some wheels and the dust was pretty savage on fork seals.

Race was super fun as a spectator. Kids had a great time. May not be the best track but some more Rocky Mountain/West coast races where you get to see top riders is awesome. Good vibes in the woods.

Yeah the current course looks wide open, it fits the namesake of US Open. Would have been cool to see this guys ride Barney Rubble like the old NORBA course had and the rock drop into the ski piste.

Just use double butted spokes and open up the LSC on the shock. 😉

How? The laid out the criteria for selection and other riders had better results to get selected. Should they get bumped just because it’s AG? If anything it’s one drawback for Gwin racing part time on the WC circuit

It's UCI Mountain Bike World Champs week in Val di Sole, Italy. The trucks rolled in this morning and the pits are getting setup. Schedule for the week is below (track walk and first practice on Weds), quali/seeding on Friday and race on Saturday. Schedule (PDF) Early weather predictions are showing rain on Friday and Saturday which will make the infamous Black Snake trail hectic, so here's hoping to a change as the week progresses. Everything is different than a World Cup with how to watch and how to get live timing. How to Watch World Champs from Olympics.com: As...

Here are the main reasons for rim failure. I think you're in the stronger wheel camp but I do agree with the other members that you're probably in the firmer part of your rear suspension stroke more often because of the slow rebound and it makes it harder for wheels to move out of the way > you hit rims more > you break rims more. Happy to help diagnose with the other vital crew here. 🤜 (not a plug for our insert... you'll want to fix some of the other things mentioned before relying on an insert first, those...

I'm not actually 100% sure of what I witnessed today. This was by far the most unhinged thing I've ever seen involving bikes. Conditions, weather, riding, fans, etc... all completely unhinged.

Hey DH community, We are working to add some west coast events to USDH by hosting a few casual UCI C1 races at our ranch this October. I put a blog post together and you can find it here: https://www.vitalmtb.com/community/judd%20de%20Vall/blog/08/15/2026/ent… We have more than $17k and 1,500 UCI points on the line for Elites this year. It’s fun (and challenging!) to put these together and we hope everyone is excited to come camp and race and support the series. Please spread the word. We will also be doing a C1 the week before Sea Otter in 2027. Hopefully the ranch...
