Jeff, Thanks for using the term Memetic. The sociological concept of Mimetic Desire, as posited by Rene Girard, is pretty crucial to understanding consumer sentiment in these markets that have (de)evolved into near-perfect competition. In Girard’s conception of the Mimetic the inaccessibility of the desired object leads to Scapegoating, and has dark sociopolitical consequences. Mimetic Desire and Memetics(as conceived by...

I’ve had the same set of pre-production Edge Composites(later changed their name to Enve) xc rims since 2008. Way too stiff for xc, they are living out their days on the trials bike that I ride very poorly.

I agree with the others that that many lift days and you can justify a 'park' bike of some kind but- I'd keep the Megatower as your park rig and maybe look at a lighter trail bike for your pedal rides. Only reason is- most of those parks have 1 or 2 good DH bike trails- the rest are kinda flat and boring on a full DH bike. Also nice to have the dropper post, big cassette and waterbottle for some of the side country stuff you can access at Snowmass.

Jeff's right on the financing side. This is far from the initial foray into it. You were able to get Trek Card financing for like 15 years ago, notwithstanding that it's now been phased out for Klarna or whatever. Wide-scale rollout is another question.

Growing wealth inequality incentivizes selling a handful of high margin bougie builds instead of high volume low margin budget rippers. Looking at all the 15k USD Avinox bikes makes we wonder if we’re closer to that future than we realize. The person that pays 15k for a bicycle is probably the sort of person who won’t mind spending 16k in 2 years just to have the newer thing.

Stop talking about Ford, with enough mentions the Ford sales team will find this thread and think we want more of the abominations. https://ford-bikes.com/collections/frontpage?srsltid=AfmBOopli28vcdxT2i…

Please consider giving me a call.

This but they must be marketed as park bikes. I wonder how the Status 170 DH sold. As far as I’m concerned every rental fleet should be those instead of 200mm travel DH race bikes.

Quebec continues to have the best mix of local, regional and international racing in North America. Fun fact: It’s the only region left where to register a club or team with the local association under the national governing body, you must promote races. Quebec has more UCI commissares than every other province, Mexico and the USA, combined. Two UCI road races, road worlds, an indoor velodrome with a paved pumptrack in the middle of it, 2 former mtb world championship venues, AND a strong cradle to grave bike club and team structure in every town?!

Lynskey has been a failure since day one. They have been regularly selling frames below the market price of raw materials for more than a decade. They really need to hang it up and leave making Ti bikes in Chattanooga to literally, everyone else in that town doing it better.
I know a few bike mechanics that work at Fairdale dealers who have been riding the Odyssey Optis system for a little over a year now. It’s a pain in the butt to setup, but the homeys like it. They have also mostly told Odyssey that the setup is enough of a pain in the butt that they’d rather not...

The WBD commentary is now recorded for all the races in a UK studio due to “budget cuts”… So, don’t expect it to get any better, or to hear any riders in the booth until 2030?

I don't like the things Sram appear to have learned from the UDH launch and adoption. Again, they're trying to be Apple, just waiting for the EU to knock them down a peg haha.

You are not wrong. If People For Bikes spent 1/4 as much advocating for safe routes to school as they did lobbying for Ebike access in skeptical communities, the shrinking American bicycle market might be expanding. Instead we seem laser focused on selling stuff to the same 10% of the population over and over again, each time with an extra...

Gonna be a dick and point out that if you run smaller than a 32t, you don’t need a power meter, you need a gym. Edit: it’s not my opinion, just an uncomfortable matter of fact for why they don’t make power meters for 30t rings. I’m sure there are exceptions, like people riding fully loaded 87lb touring bikes who pump out 450 watts so they can go at a walking pace. Or Primoz who apparently lives in a magical land where rock climbing and mountain biking intersect.

Any thoughts on creating a new thread with to sole focus being DJI/Avinox/Amflow + Future (which can be technology and business)? I know a number of you subscribe to this looking for a broader range of things to be talked about. I'm happy to start one if you guys want.
