I cover shit in oven cleaner all the time. It IS very caustic. I will usually make a lean-to out of cardboard outside and spray on a mild, windless day wearing the same elbow length gloves and face shiled I use while glopping aircraft paint stripper onto painted frames. If i want to strip something like some black ano non-eyeleted...

1) my Turner Nitrous. First HT since the early aughts and hoo boy has that changed! I moved to Missoula from ABQ last year and having a XC/trail hardtail has made the riding tons more fun and efficient. Have been getting more on: 2) longer rides. Nice to be feeling more in shape. 3) custom tune on my Fox 36. Much more supple. I don’t smash like I used to, and a lighter tune has made the riding tons more comfortable 4) Sedona. First trip there since the mid-aughts and hoo boy that has changed! So fun, and just enough...

Brage should pick up a page from his countryman, Isak Leivson and start garage building his own bikes. Those long summer nights aren’t just good for digging!

A. Having multiple running bikes with 26” wheels, steep head angles, front brakes, knobby tires, a chainguide and gears. Tiny bikes with tiny wheels make everything harder, when you get paid to make trails and make them easier this helps to soothe the soul. Might as well take the trials line… B. Vermont. Duh C. East Coast XC racing showing...

In no particular order. Loved: Trails builders and the people that maintain the trails in the areas where we ride bikes. These legends will never get enough credit. Loved: Bikes are sooooo damn good at the moment. Whether Im riding my smuggler trail bike or riding my heavy alloy patrol enduro/park bike, the smiles these things give you and the confidence to try new things and ride harder knowing its always going to be ok. Loved: Supporting the Local Bike shops. Things arent great for these stores but still going out of their way to help out however they can...

UM… highschool classes? Why? Lol, besides Hoverair (the drone that must follow you because your sport has no spectators) and a financial planning company, USAC’s only other sponsor is a homeschooling company… For Collegiate mtb nationals- they are within a few weeks of the NICA regional championships… all of which happen during domestic CX season. Hard to find anything good...

WD40’s sport marketing efforts are managed by former World Cup 4x pro Robin Baloochi. It’s kinda an endemic non-endemic sponsorship- WD does have that whole line of bikeshop oriented product…

The XCO track in Roanoke is such an embarrassment. We have the best crop of xc racers in 30 years, but we are making them race on a track that wasn’t good enough for local racing in the 90’s. If you have a junior that is interested in racing, they better have a front row call-up because the track has...

Just to cleat things up, that was when Gary still owned the company. Clif is owned by Mondelez now… All Clif sponsorship is dead, they might have kept an influencer or two. Gary’s still sponsoring a domestic crit team via the family winery though, because he’s a true hero of cycling.

ok then when do we get a demonitized Clappin Yo Dome posted up? We’ve all been good this year, how about a Holiday treat? It’s not right that the kids today can’t watch it without finding a senior citizen with a DVD and DVD player!

I have had Classified hubs in for evaluation in 142 and 148mm applications. All that extra mass hanging off the rear wheel would suck, just like any other IGH. Also, the shifting isn’t exactly…. reliable.

Why yes, of course! During the Sinister bikes v Iron Horse east coast glory days, FTW and I would both have spares of all the small Sinister parts at local races and Daq had full spares kits when he was on the road with Ebbet and Smutok at Nationals and Crankworks. At Mt Snow Frank would often take bikes he...

I had one of the my ‘26 enduro frames in my hands a couple weeks ago. If literally hundreds of FTW built frames hadn’t passed through my hands over the last 25 years, I would be hard pressed to tell the difference, the start-stop marks on the welds were even in the same place Frank does them. Neko and Logan...

Jeff, As a human who gets paid to help people sell bicycles, I am much more interested in the metrics that relate to human flourishing, not ecological carrying capacity. Consumers can’t consume if they are precarious- and the precarity of the American Consumer is hard to deny. It takes more than looking at GDP to understand consumers- dashboards like this...
