5/3/2026 7:12am The WBD commentary is now recorded for all the races in a UK studio due to “budget cuts”… So, don’t expect it to get any better, or to hear any riders in the booth until 2030?

5/3/2026 6:48am I don't like the things Sram appear to have learned from the UDH launch and adoption. Again, they're trying to be Apple, just waiting for the EU to knock them down a peg haha.

5/1/2026 4:36am You are not wrong. If People For Bikes spent 1/4 as much advocating for safe routes to school as they did lobbying for Ebike access in skeptical communities, the shrinking American bicycle market might be expanding. Instead we seem laser focused on selling stuff to the same 10% of the population over and over again, each time with an extra...

4/29/2026 7:28am Gonna be a dick and point out that if you run smaller than a 32t, you don’t need a power meter, you need a gym. Edit: it’s not my opinion, just an uncomfortable matter of fact for why they don’t make power meters for 30t rings. I’m sure there are exceptions, like people riding fully loaded 87lb touring bikes who pump out 450 watts so they can go at a walking pace. Or Primoz who apparently lives in a magical land where rock climbing and mountain biking intersect.

4/28/2026 6:40pm Any thoughts on creating a new thread with to sole focus being DJI/Avinox/Amflow + Future (which can be technology and business)? I know a number of you subscribe to this looking for a broader range of things to be talked about. I'm happy to start one if you guys want.

4/24/2026 4:22pm Quoting measurements to 0.01mm on an aluminium mountain bike frame; they are very very over confident in the manufacturing capability of the factory.

4/23/2026 9:49am Surron had a prominent presence at Sea Otter, and a number of kids were riding these e-motos (along with pit bikes) throughout the expo in ways that were disruptive and inconsiderate. I’m still developing my perspective on high-powered eMTBs (which I consider a separate thing), but it’s hard to ignore how often these machines seem to encourage poor behavior — or at least attract it. I often hear the argument that it’s better for kids to be outside on bikes (of any sort) than indoors glued to their phones. In principle, I agree. But increasingly, it feels as though the...

3/31/2026 5:52am Consolidation of ownership has been an issue in the ski industry since the 90’s. Vail and Alterra will both eventually start cracking up, and new broligarchs will pick up the pieces and re-shuffle them into new roll-ups. What we are seeing on the east coast is one hedge- funded family slowly buying up formerly independent resorts that have avoided mergers...

3/27/2026 4:50am Paragon passing on will be fine. The .step files for hangers and dropout parts have been circulating online for a while. There’s plenty of shops that can pick up those skus. The first Paragon part i ever bought was a 72t x110 bcd chainring back in college for an Ebike project. The secret order menu over there was more extensive...

3/9/2026 9:00am That isn’t Grice’s bike. He’s borrowing one of last year’s bikes from a buddy until the fresh produce is ripe. (Source: that’s what he told me on the Shuttle )

3/3/2026 5:59am With the global bicycle market coalescing around “mobility solutions” as the future profit center the American response that you are “afraid to ride to work” is just about all the economic insight needed to understand why this thread will soon be 150 pages long. The number of Americans I know who have held pro dh licenses but are hesitant riding...

3/1/2026 5:28am Re: recent geopolitical happenings With the Straight of Hormuz and Red Sea both being closed to tanker traffic, we will be seeing some very large increases in oil prices, at least in the short term. In my 30+ years tracking bicycle retail trends, we usually see an uptick in bicycle sales when the price of gasoline becomes painful for commuters...

2/24/2026 6:41am It’s so excellent to see for a 2nd year in a row that USAC’s national events staff isn’t involved with Enduro National Championships. Mr Harper has done a good job reducing USAC’s involvement with Gravity national championships… now we need to kick the USAC goons out of the event director and site selection roles for Endurance MTB nationals and return...
