I think when you're spending $21k on a bike, you don't care that you can have 4 bikes and some trips for that price. You can have all that, too. Ain't nobody shaking out their couch for quarters to buy this thing.

Sure, aside from how the knobs are shaped, placed, and spaced differently and don't have sipes, it basically looks identical. That is, it's black and made of rubber.

Added reply in a thread I don't like the direction of modern trail building 11/13/2020 11:39 PM

The primary point I agree with is the failure to follow the natural contour of the terrain. If you do this well you shouldn't need to build up terrain to manage traffic. At one of my local spots they're starting to bring in machinery and they are totally ... more »

Right. Actually, Sam's career has been almost as long as Greg's and he's still winning races, too.

Added reply in a thread MTB Tech Rumors and Innovation 10/31/2020 3:34 AM

Greg is the GOAT because of the number of wins over such a long career. Greg was racing before some of his competitors were even born. Nico and Gwin no doubt have enormous achievements and a similar number of wins but in fewer years, which in a way is ... more »

Right. Likewise, Surrey Hills has produced how many talented, internationally famous riders? A helluva lot more than Switzerland, Austria, Italy... Steep, challenging terrain is not a prerequesite to building skill. Lots of riding time is.

You can't guess time like that. So maybe he could have stayed on line and been .11 slower right there but gained .2 in the next corner. Or he got off line resulting in nearly going off course, and actually would have been a full second faster if he hadn't ... more »

Right. For example, in Leogang's stump section there's a very awkward corner with a pole placed at about 45* and lots of riders appeared (at least from the video) to be jumping it. No talk of DQ there. But again, maybe that's just camera angles

Love seeing that the top ten has been stirred up and some new names are punching in - riders who've always have the ability to get there but the top 5 have been so strong it's like everyone else gets bullied out.
Also wondering where rachel is?

I'm not sure we will find any shifting components made in America, but Paul at least makes mounts for thumbs shifters. Alternately, anyone else remember the old White Industries derailleur that used two cables?

Bulldog riding a DH bike hard enough to be testing and riding DH bikes is way cooler than the news of a new rig.

Someone wearing a t shirt equates to "shoved down my throat"? Advocating for black people to not be routinely beaten/killed by cops is a political agenda?
Good riddance if you're off to find a new community - you're not welcome here anyway if that's how you feel.

totally makes sense. It's the only thing I'd change about my current bike - I'd like to be more forward when in a neutral position.

Good question. You know, I'll probably end up also getting one of the new Canfield Nimble 9 because I love my bike so much and just want to keep supporting the company, and that way my old school one that I can't get replacement derailleur hangers for ... more »

Nice to hear. Yeah, that's exactly what we have here- you're pedaling non-stop just to keep going. Thanks!

Your steeper head angle comment was my main thought in posting this. This whole longer lower slacker movement doesn't work around here, at least not for me. Seems like all these bikes are designed for being out in the mountains where there's ups and ... more »

Ah, I had a 5 spot way back when. Loved that thing so much I keep thinking maybe I should just stick to old school bikes! Good to know seat tube angle might matter more for my purposes, so long as I don't go too slack on the front end. Sounds like the ... more »
