I think the easiest explanation here is injury and recovery. Last season Finn was racing with a messed up back and Jordan was racing on a knee they’d just reconstructed. It seems unlikely that either of them had a good ’24-‘25 off-season, so in addition to the injury, I’m sure they were also behind on setup and testing on what was, at the time, a moving target of a bike. I’d imagine the ’25-’26 off-season was really productive for them both, both in terms of training and being able to test on a production-ready bike. Neither of them went well...

I don’t think Finn winning is all that surprising, before his back injury season last year he was very consistently near the top of the podium despite not winning after MSA several years ago. Jordan is a bit more surprising, confidence is clearly up, maybe seeing Finn do it helped him too? Either way, Specialized couldn’t ask for better results after Demo 11 launch. On the topic of female elites, Specialized also used to have Izabela Yankova on Gen S, who was a junior world champion. I think she only did 1 elite season before injuries in ‘24 and stepping...

Reece absolutely has the worst bike setup of anyone in the senior men's ranks, and the only thing I learned from his second place at Andorra is that he's even more talented than I realized. Random question: does anyone know what tires Jordan was running? Seems like the Specialized team are on Cannibals 90% of the time unless it's a mudder, but I'm wondering if they maybe switched to a front or rear Hillbilly for the super loose conditions at Andorra.

A properly supported Angel on a winning bike is someone who has been able cross the line in the green in the past. Angels had some rough luck over the years with weird team dynamics, teams folding, and injury. I'd love to see 2-3 seasons of that guy healthy and supported.

I think this has made my front tyre choice for bike park season pretty easy. I finally tested the Magic Mary Radial Gravity Ultra Soft against the Assegai DoubleDown MaxxGrip. The Mary was much smoother in the rough, had huge braking confidence, and came out 2.86 seconds quicker in my 15-run comparison. What surprised me most is that I do not think it gives anything away in rolling speed either. It was already edging ahead on the smoother, flatter opening section before grip really became a factor. Oui, definitely, fair do's. Even Ric is alright. I hate to say it, almost don't need the race companion listen along now. It's lie one weekend of that has given enough pressure to the actual team to improve. Sweeping is fine. It's keeping the track in prime condition for the world's best. As long as we don't have some Tomac-esque tooth loss from trophy's, and bottles!
