8/27/2026 7:44am Stole this pic from the other site, but Cube’s got an interesting spoke flange system that allows tuning more compliance by moving the flange inboard or stiffer by moving the flange out. Haven’t seen this approach before!

8/26/2026 7:03pm One big tech not and one small tech note from World Champs pit bits- As y'all mentioned, Schwalbe now makes a 32" Radial Gravity Pro Magic Mary, which is a big deal because that makes it the first truly heavy duty 32" tire from any brand. Previously Neko was running an EXO+ Dissector up front on his 32" Frameworks DH bike at Mountain Creek. He said the EXO+ front tire felt fine and didn't bug him, which is nuts, and makes me suspect that the 32" front wheel could actually feel really really good with a proper DH tread, casing...

8/26/2026 10:07am You know, " natural, crazy lines" that are "too technical for the majority of riders" don't have to be erosion risks. You can build steep, natural, crazy trails that hold up to traffic, and like you said, if they're too steep and gnarly for most riders they don't have to hold up to nearly as much traffic. Tons of excellent examples of trails like this. Granted that it's harder to build like this because you have to use your brain a bit more than plowing straight down the fall line, but it's not impossible. I guess it really matters where...

8/26/2026 10:04am I really enjoyed that one. Looking back, the early years of EWS really were something special. Something to keep in mind with the recent Crankworx announcement is they were also instrumental in the founding of the original EWS series in 2013. Good reason to be optimistic. The Enduro Mountain Bike Asociation (EMBA) was formed to established the EWS and became the de facto governing body of the new series. EMBA itself had four founding members: Chis Ball, Enrico Guala, Fred Glo, and Darren Kinnaird (Crankworx GM) and they would become the four original EWS board members. The origin story I...

8/25/2026 4:54pm Maybe another bonus for the Lake Placid World Cup race: Fall foliage! Travel and Leisure magazine says Priceline has named the Lake Placid region the #1 fall foliage viewing destination in the US for 2026. The World Cup activities will run from October 2 to 4, which looks like it might be when leaf colors are at or near their peak:

8/24/2026 8:10pm Specialized has always been clear that they wouldn't risk diluting the name of their stumpjumper or enduro by naming their ebikes the same thing. They have a lot of brand identity/pride/ego wrapped in those product line names. Unless they've done a complete 180 on their philosophy, there's never gonna be an e-stumpjumper or e-enduro.

8/24/2026 8:08pm Yeah rule number one of illegal trail building is don't use any wood or screws. Besides the fact that it looks more illegal and permanent than piles of dirt, my understanding is that wooden structures of any sort leave the land manager more legally exposed. Crashing and getting hurt on a dirt trail is different in the eyes of the law than crashing and getting hurt on a structure made of imported construction materials that should have been permitted and engineered for safety.

8/24/2026 6:02pm Pretty much how it went down at my local spot. All the cool wood features were torn down by the town/state people ages ago, some of the wreckage is still there. Biking still isn’t strictly legal. NEMBA has been trying to get it legal for, decades I think at this point? Still no news. Still being ridden daily. Every once...

8/24/2026 5:58pm Silver lining? That was the most even-handed news report on illegal trail building that I've ever seen. A conspicuous absence of pearl clutching and hyperbole. Maybe there's hope for the future yet.

8/24/2026 12:21pm I believe we're looking into the Push Sub-Chamber in that fork. The knob at the top of the Sub-Chamber closes a valve that either shuts off or opens up that air chamber, which results in more or less air spring ramp from the ambient air inside the coil-sprung stanchion. I never took my Sub-Chamber apart while I had the Nine One here (it's back at Push right now for a top secret tune up), but that image looks a lot like Darren's description of how the Sub-Chamber works. Also worth mentioning that it works exactly as promised. It was a...

8/20/2026 2:33pm I keep my naked knees in the breeze on bigger pedal days. Including today. I also run so warm that I don’t need a jacket until ~24F/-4C. It’s not the best idea, but sometimes I’m not that willing to sacrifice comfort.
