8/6/2026 3:12am Just buy a DH bike with steep seat tube angle and run a dropper post and full drivetrain. Then you have the best of both worlds! Frameworks for the win. And for those complaining it ruins drivetrains, this XX group (minus chain replacements) has been running strong since Jan. 2023.

8/4/2026 7:18am What all of those solutions miss out on is that a gearbox has consistent chain-line across all the gears. That allows you to rip technical decent with heavy braking while in 1st gear without having to deal with heinous chaingrowth/pedal kick. Not to derail with ebike talk but I have used the Avinox auto shift feature which in practice functions pretty similar to the intend/wrp stuff and it’s still really nice to have

8/4/2026 12:00am The more i think about it the more appealing does thos whole shifting while coasting on the gearbox sound to me. I know there was some solutions for the cranks where you could basically achieve the same on a derailleursetup but this stuff didnt really take off, no? I know intend had something and wrp aswdll but very very expensive.

7/11/2026 12:59am I mist be a minority here because i have ridden my intend 35 fork with a cheap non branded hub, dt swiss hubs and currently bontrager hubs and i cant tell or feel a difference in flex. I also ride a 38 and i can tell a difference in performance but not in flexion. At one point im unsire if...

7/4/2026 12:42am I think part of the problem is that "MTB" covers a really diverse range of riding styles, and for the different styles, a variety of engineering requirements and interests. It's easy for people (myself included) to only consider the style(s) of riding they do when they promote or bash posts. I agree that there might be interesting trickle-down technology from the latest "moped" innovations in MGUs for predominantly gravity-driven forms of pedal MTBs. While the idea of a gearbox that is comparable in weight in efficiency to a conventional 1X drive train is exciting, from the engineering side of things...

6/30/2026 8:39pm I typically use the climb switch once per ride. I like to turn it on halfway up the climb when I remember I have it and might as well use it. I tend to turn it off halfway down the descent when I’m puzzling over why my suspension isn’t working. I suspect I am not in the minority.
