Falcon Added a reply to Dumb Bike Problems
1 day ago I don't have big legs or a nice jawline, but I have absolutely filleted myself after looping out on hard dirt using clipon pedals and trying to manual. I wasn't getting anywhere with it, so I threw down hard on one occasion and voila! Instant loopout. Dude, that still hurts.

6/25/2026 9:23am Looking forward to seeing if you can tune the bounciness out with a lower tire pressure.

6/22/2026 3:18pm I have an Ogio-branded one that works really well. It has no collar, but the neck is tall; when zipped up, it will cover the back of my neck nicely. It's made from really thin, rip-stop material and it will fold/wad up small enough to fit in a large pocket in my shorts.

Falcon Added a reply to Assegai no grip zone
6/16/2026 11:58am Haha! Well, I'm certainly an average guy (or below,) but I feel like I can put a little more push into the front wheel with DHFs and they'll push back. The Assegai just feels like it has a limit and that's it. To me, anyway. Keep in mind I ride on dry, hard terrain 99.9% of the time. I think...
Falcon Added a reply to Assegai no grip zone
6/15/2026 11:19am I tried an Assegai on my last bike and felt the same way; the cornering grip was a step down from the Minion DHF that I had on before that. I'm still stuck on the DHFs. I like the 3c MaxxGrip ones the best (softest compound).

6/15/2026 11:14am I spray mine out with Lysol to cut down on the odds of a microbial community rising up and declaring independence, and I'll very occasionally wipe the dust off with a wet rag and some Simple Green. I don't live where mud is usually a problem.

Falcon Added a reply to Is Leatt the only game in town for convertible helmets
6/9/2026 1:35pm FWIW, you are 100% right about harder to drink through. It's my only complaint about my TLD Stage helmet. However, I just saw this product that I think I'll check out myself: https://us.leatt.com/products/water-bottle-steadysip-convertible?srslti… https://theloamwolf.com/reviews/gear/review-leatt-steadysip-convertible… As far as hotter to pedal in, I haven't noticed any appreciable difference between the Stage and a standard bike lid. The Stage is very ventilated...

6/9/2026 10:16am Yes. I meant " Cross-downcountrytrailendurodownhill bikepacking rig" as sort of an astonished compliment. 😎

6/9/2026 10:14am I didnt have a bike rack for my vehicle, so id take the front wheel off and toss it in the back of my SUV. Once day I had a particularly long ride and overexerted myself. Got back to my vehicle and took my front wheel off like usually do. Threw my bike and gear in the back and then sat down for a minute drinking some water and trying to cool off before I drove home. Got up and hopped in my SUV and drove away. This was also a brand new bike by the way, one of my...

6/2/2026 5:00pm So like, between your finger and the grip is there your gloves bunch? It seems most riders prefer a thin grip, but I’ve found a thicker grip to be beneficial. Might help if that’s your issue. odi rogues have been good for me.

6/2/2026 9:37am I think the purpose of that little tab is to be a mini chain guide for the upper pulley in big chain slap moments. Pull the cage forward by hand and imagine the chain slapping and flopping around. Seems like it'd be easy for the chain to jump off the upper pulley if that tab wasn't there. I just checked a couple of X01 derailleurs in the old parts bin because the clutches started to wear out, and you can clearly see that the chain has hit that tab.

5/29/2026 12:48pm Don't get me started on "matchy-matchy." I have been known to consume hours when putting stickers on my helmet, making sure they are straight and symmetrical with other logos. You know you have a real problem when you are aware that sometimes you have a to put a sticker on slightly crooked so it will appear straight. Back to the...

5/26/2026 9:36am I don't have a van, but I'm a serious player when it comes to the game of moto Tetris. I often have to get three motorcycles and a whole weekend's worth of equipment into my Tacoma.
