12/26/2025 9:32am I interpreted it as YT-Germany trying to tell the Zinks they were operating incorrectly with regard to the US tax system and owed taxes to the US government. Therefore they were hurting the global YT image and likely in a financial hard spot so they should sell YT-USA back to YT-Germany for cheap so they could fix everything.

12/15/2025 9:08am Good questions! One thing that may be a factor is that endless growth isn't necessarily part of the definition of success in German business culture; it's acceptable/admirable to just run a solid, sustainable, small business (what might somewhat derisively be called a "lifestyle business" in the US). This article about Schmidt Maschinenbau (the folks who make SON dynamo hubs) does a pretty good job of describing that: https://bikepacking.com/plog/inside-son-dynamo-hubs/

12/6/2025 10:34am It all comes down to policy. Removing the gold standard isn’t an issue in itself. An independent fed is a good thing. Simply there has been a total failure in leadership since the 90s on both sides of the aisle. When Clinton left office we were on a path to completely eliminate our national debt by the late 2000s. Since then we have continually increased our costs (some good, some bad) while cutting taxes across the board. But the shift (or realistically return) of the government supporting business over normal folk started much earlier. When Eisenhower was president taxes on...

12/4/2025 4:22pm This is what is done in the Netweather forums. They make a monthly storm thread during thunderstorm season and then a monthly snow thread during winter. Sometimes we get thundersnow which confuses things.

Buckets Up Added a reply to Cannondale sv2000 rear shock question
12/2/2025 5:01pm You’d be much better served saving the money you’d use for a shock to invest in a modern bike. As unique as that Cannondale was, full suspension bikes from the era are extremely outdated and not really ideal for any application. I suggest looking at gravel bikes with more relaxed geometry or even something like a rigid bike-packing focused rig...

11/29/2025 7:39am Don’t worry, give Vail another decade. They already own Andermatt and Crans-Montana in Switzerland and they are running out of North American resorts to buy.

11/25/2025 4:10pm Culture. If foreign cultures around the world can stick bones through their nose, worship cows, or marry off children... You can't understand why some people don't wear helmets? People legit used to just not wear helmets on bikes up until like... The 90s? Maybe early 2000s? (they were only required on the tour de france around 2003-2005) As a (former) BMXer it's funny cuz... I wore no helmets on any bike, until I got on a mountain bike. The second I got on a mountain bike I said FUCK this I need a helmet and pads. This shit is dangerous...

11/20/2025 12:23pm In honor of the 1000th page, we should vote on the best meme of 2025: 👍🏻 for “Crab” 👎🏻 for “6-7” edit: Carcinization is the antithesis of innovation. Maybe we should keep crab talk on the crab talk forum and keep this thread focused on MTB tech rumors and/or innovation.
