The only thing that any of these bikes have attached to them that make them actually cool is marketing. Especially from a brand like transition. Norco actually does some pretty cool outside the box stuff but brands like marin or transition make cheaply made bikes that’s survive only off marketing hype.

The master cylinder piston for Shimano has been, for almost 15 years at least, 10mm. The ultimate leverage ratio of the XTR is not that different from a servowave equipped lever. The XTR saint combo has been run by Shimano athletes in dh for a long time. You get a stiffer lever and a less aggressive bite point. I used...
Running less sag makes a bike track poorly on account of losing contact with the ground anytime there’s an indent the wheel has to go over. You see the same exact issue with people lifting vehicles to drive off road. They throw preload collars on and all of the sudden they feel the truck is harsher. The spring rate hasn’t gotten stiffer so why does it feel harsher? It’s losing contact with the ground and causing the chassis to pitch to allow a wheel to drop into a hole as soon as a hole is deeper than the amount of...

based on how they described it in the abstract, i'm guessing they didn't have any time zero samples. they also don't reference any compendial methods for aging of materials.

Interesting article, I’ll pull it tomorrow to check out at work when I can log into asme with my work credentials. Worth noting that anytime polymeric aging studies are done you typically need controls to compare the new vs the aged materials to determine if there was degradation or not. Sounds like they just rounded up a bunch of old...
Sorry bud, but if you are getting to the point of ranting on the internet about " woefully anemic, made of cheese, lock ring" then yes you might need to evaluate your wrenching skills. lol Sorry you got your feelings hurt. Your rant comes off as just a bunch of lop-sided frustration. You list a bunch of things you hate...
Calibrated Ocular Comparator is another good one. ROFL Re: People complaining about Shimano 12sp might need to put the wrench down and step away from the bike. I clean my cassette in the ultrasonic every few weeks. I have 1500miles on my current XT and that lock ring has been loosened and tightened a few 100 times, it's in just...

Re brembo: Will be interesting to see how they survive in the real world. Was telling a buddy of mine that WC racing isn’t really a stress test considering that those brakes are bled every run. Based on hydraulic leverage ratios they will be quite powerful… Another player isn’t a bad thing…

Why not get a Madrone instead of a bunch derailleurs that require a lot of maintainance and not even working that well spending the same if not more for something much weaker, soft

Yes, but... The molding artifacts and the mold release agents probably being very low on the pareto chat of reasons why a first run break-in is a thing. MTB tires rely less on molecular adhesion and much more so on deformation/indentation, road biking is an application where you do rely on molecular adhesion as a primary component of mechanical grip...

Venting in the tool to get rid of gas during the molding process. The Mohawk is a result of the tool flashing at the parting line, where the two half’s meet.
Sounds like you haven't pulled apart the lever and seen what it does? Might be worth your time to check it out if you haven't. If you advance the MC piston much further than where it comes from factory it closes the system off, Its a dead simple system that has little adjustment to decrease the dead stroke. A closes...
You will never get dominions to have as little travel as what you can get out of T4V4's. The little screw is not how you change the bite point of the Dominions and TBH there isnt much you can do about it, the master cylinder piston is as close as you are going to get to the timing port as...
Let me introduce you to my friend shimano... lol Dominions have kind of the worst of both worlds, lots of lever travel and a short ramp that goes from initial bite to rear tire lockup very quickly. Ride T4V4's and Dominions back-to-back in steep loose over loose conditions and you will appreciate the power and control that the hopes gift...
Good spot. That is something that I am actually really interested in. Would be interested to see if they managed to smooth out the power band compared to the original Dominions. The lever looks longer with less hook, I would suspect that they made some improvements to reduce dead stroke allowing you to run levers closer to the bar.
