What do you mean by "better?" XTR uses fancy patented Hyperglide+ shift ramps because it's designed to shift fast under high loads. Transmission uses shift gates because it's designed to shift smoother under high loads. I currently have bikes with both hanging on my wall, and I think they both do exactly what they claim to do. Find a fairly uniform part of a climb trail and do some laps trying to keep the power constant. It wouldn't have to be super high power merely something you could achieve repeatedly. I recall pinkbike in the Levy days doing something similar for some of the field tests.
