This is a good point, and it is worth slowing down on for a second. When people read what I write and say, “Well, I see their bikes everywhere, they must be selling,” or “They make great bikes,” I think they are missing part of my argument. Specialized, Santa Cruz, Trek, Orbea, Canyon, and plenty of others all make incredible bikes and people like those bikes. That is not the issue I'm keying in on. The issue is what happens when revenue falls, inventory builds, margins compress, and the industry fails to snap back after a historic boom. At that...

I wouldn't want to be on the executive team of an employee-owned COOP during a downturn. Layoffs may be required in order to survive. It's easy to imagine a company like this going insolvent instead of taking bitter medicine within the timeframe required to avoid catastrophe.

So, going to ask this question fully understanding the debates and tech here... So everyone is saying 32" will NEED new/wider hub spacing, especially for DH. WHY? Most companies are designing asymetric rims. spoke tensions are even. now, on top of that, commencal is running 32h rear 28h front. so going down in spoke count. AND most teams are running LESS spoke tension to get better traction (and in turn INCREASE wheel flex). So.... if you take that into account, I see no need to run wider flanges on a 32h asymmetric rim at full tension. Also... most of us...

Re: "Will we see any of the mega brands move to Avinox mid-term?" I agree that these price cuts are a direct consequence of Avinox eating everybody's lunch. But I don't think we'll see big brands starting to use Avinox, for compliance reasons. The one thing that draws consumers towards Avinox (- high power output) is basically also the reason why the big brands don't use them. If other electric motor OEMs like Bosch or Brose wanted to make, say, a 4.000 watt motor in an e-bike form factor, they absolutely could. I'm told there's nothing holding them back from...

Leaving South Korea today just wanted to say thanks to those that gave advice in this thread was really helpful. South Korea is amazing will definitely be back hopefully with a bike next time. Chatted to a few Americans at the race so not sure if your on here but this is me if you recognise me.

You are not wrong. If People For Bikes spent 1/4 as much advocating for safe routes to school as they did lobbying for Ebike access in skeptical communities, the shrinking American bicycle market might be expanding. Instead we seem laser focused on selling stuff to the same 10% of the population over and over again, each time with an extra battery or two.

Can you please not drag your abrasive views on world situation into every damn topic? We're talking about bikes not world politics. As for the new Demo and Sram drivetrain thingamajiggy, will it be available for other brands besides Specialized too? Does it circumvent DWs twochainz patent?

Checked your CSU? That's the usual suspect assuming you're on a single crown. Please don't use grease on your stem/bar interface or over-torque it. Assembly paste is fine, but something else is going on. Make sure nothing is cracked, check frame at all welds, stem face, bar. Could also be headset or even a crunchy/seized bearing. Noises are fun time.

Hey Five Ten- those kids freeriders with the 3 Velcro straps are great. My son loves them. I bet adults would like em too. Do a survey I’m sure I’m not the only one who would by them.

New Dual Slalom Course - Yay or Nay? Dual Slalom has been kind of controversial with its new location and minimal effort put into the course. Instead of the traditional combo of groomed, deep bowl corners and rhythm lanes mixed with some natural turns, this year is 100% natural, grass turns without a jump or berm in sight. The location, off the DH shuttle road, prohibited any digging due to utility and infrastructure elements underground apparently. Does it feel like a "pro" race? Not really. Is the racing going to be good? Definitely. Today's pro qualifying was exciting and fast...

I don't want to come off as angry or pretentious, but I find what's going on with Avinox and the Spesh "class 2" emtb disgusting. I'm curious how the people at traditional bike companies feel about what they're helping proliferate into our world for all of the people who created and maintain the trails (mostly volunteers like myself) to contend with. How conflicted are they? Between the general financial malaise in the industry, 32" wheels nobody truly seems excited about, and the unprincipled embrace of avivox/DJI/amflow, what is general morale like? Conversely, and assuming everyone there isn't also yelling at...

You must choose your (ride) friends well. Kinda joking, kinda not. Isn't this what we've been doing for ever? Self sorting into groups who like to pedal and descent in similar ways. This will continue. I have an eeb, mostly due to injury but it's also fun top open up new options in weird ride routes. But I'm only interested...
