I like the Norco. I like the demo. I like race bikes and I ride them to about 80 percent of their ability when I’m at 1000 percent of my own, with my kids, making shapes in the park. We get to ride factory race bikes on Saturdays at home. And they don’t try to kill us like moto gp bikes or super mx bikes. Pretty neat. I’d quickly have a norco team DH and know some dads that jumped for the demo - right after we balance a check book, throw some at the Roth, make sure the honeys...

Doing specific molds, single size shock cradles, and etc seems like an expensive way to do it, but honestly, it kind of feels like the right way to do it. It's expensive, and they make another bike to grab if you're on a budget. I dig it.

After. It was one of the more comical experiences I’ve had with bike links. I don’t weigh a lot and I kept having to add more and more air to get sag (near max pressure and I’m only 150 lbs). So it was obvious something wasn’t right. Went to check the machining and the simulated machined part didn’t match the modeled part despite all the tool paths being up to date. Strangely the thing cleared full travel. Bounced on it a little for the fun of it… 170 mm of travel with a 45 mm shock stroke is probably one...

Attention tech nerds! I'm currently out at Sea Otter Europe, working on the coverage from today, I figured I'd drop this here for you guys - KYB is coming to MTB! The upside-down fork shown here should be available as of November. It's got a few cool features, like the ability to run it in 27 or 29 configuration by sliding the fork legs up and down in the crowns (because the crowns are bolted on)! POV with Tyler Ervin and Luca Cometti (YouTube). The spin cycle section is VERY steep. the rocks are gross and the dust is all-time. Raw vid in a couple hours. best PDS track of the year for sure!

I love doing endo turns and I like high AR. Need a predictable/stable bike if you want to get weird on it IMO. Saying that dampers are good now so they can control brake forces is missing the point I reckon. Riding a low AR bike means you either have to set your dampers up to deal with an extra factor that it wouldn't otherwise need to, or deal with a more compromised riding position during braking to make up for the lack of stability that your bike has. Everything is a compromise. Personally, I find it a lot easier...

I think Shimano is missing the point- noise is the biggest issue by far. If my bike is loud, it's bad. I don't care if the suspension is actually working 1% better.

It was promising- less chainslap in general but on very large impacts chainslap was worse as you'd pull the derailleur into the weaker spring zone. Shifting was actually improved- less tension on the chain going into big cogs. Think the best would be a massive torsion spring to add tension everywhere and then use the cam over spring to mostly subtract tension going into the large cogs. I believe that is the limiter on cage tension. Once you have too much- the derailleur doesn't like shifting into the big easy cogs. I filed paperwork to patent, begged, pleaded, told everyone...

I tried the WT ones for a couple of weeks and ended up taking them off for a few reasons. They made my existing bars feel too narrow. I’ve run this width for a while but the bar end changed arm angle and felt awkward / super tight. Might be my hand position. I really disliked them when climbing my enduro bike. I’ve never noticed how much I move my hands, rest on ends of the bar, flare at an angle, etc. These made me feel constrained on climbs to a certain position and made my hands tired.

Yeah for sure, this will be different for everyone. I'm like you and overlap the edge of the grip normally. It made my 800mm bar feel 780-790mm ish, which is fine for me. Alternatively if your hands sit really inboard, like BMX riders where the grips stick out the edge of your palm (so weird). Cut your bars or you won't get the benefit... I did get a little hand ache at first, the benefit I find comes at the point where fatigue makes it feel like my hands are about to fall off the bars.. then I can use...

Really cool. I understood (italian is pretty good but technical stuff goes over my head) the goal is to optimize suspension performance for every phase of cornering- opening compression under braking, back to neutral/baseline while rider is neither braking nor pedaling, then stiffening compression when the crankset is under forward load to maximize forward drive. I.e. theoretically providing gains on both corner entry and exit. Proper active suspension system.

Which slit? EDIT: checked the PB article and I see now. It's a cut tube to lower the stiffness of it. Greatly. That's why there are all the bosses running on either side of the slit, to be able to bolt in a stiffening plate essentially making the downtube into a tube again, at least mechanically.

I've been interested in it ever since I saw the protos used early on in supercross. Figured it would make for a great piece of DH protection. I have the Alpinestar Tech Air MX on the way right now.
