5/18/2026 11:50pm I thought Wes Lukens broke his leg last month. Maybe he can add "fast healer" to his résumé! (He also raced at Mountain Creek just over a week ago. Incredible.)

5/17/2026 1:09pm Branding, demand and money. I dont think suspension kinematics play any role in that. Its just about to find where they can drop vpp for more profit without tanking overall brand that is built around vpp. Question might be if that brand is strong enough to survive with such change.

5/17/2026 11:04am Slowly been fiddling with the Tacky Chan Trail Pro 2.5 Soft tire pressures. I’m up to 30/33 psi and I think I’m finally at the point where I’m comfortable with the support. Running lower pressures gave a silly amount of grip, but pushing into corners with the front or pumping or preloading the rear felt like an absolute gamble. It never actually rolled the bead or anything, but loading up the rear and having the bike randomly change yaw by 3-4 degrees wasn’t great. Still haven’t gotten the weird mushiness I felt with the Alberts or the super bouncy feel...

5/15/2026 10:03pm I love DH bikes. They make my motor hum like a buzzy bee. I get excited just looking at my DH bike and all silly when I ride it and pretend I’m Asa who makes it look SO easy.

5/15/2026 7:07am I was thinking the other day about how disappointing the Nomad update was and how that translates to the bike industry still being screwed because serial buyers of bikes and frames (like us here) are just not excited to drop $3,500+ on any of these new frames. Combine this with the sheer amount of interesting bikes/frames in the back catalog that I’d love to try and are dirt cheap used: High pivot Optic, Range, Dreadnaught/Druid, Enduro, Tyee, Spindrift, Spur V1, SB165, Meta V5, Revel, HD6. Maybe it’s just the season of life I’m in after buying a new frame every...

5/13/2026 10:51pm Just like GP forums, I swear. Where's that new specialized again? Patent for the 170mm design lodged in 2023 iirc. Enduro is going through a multilayered image crisis, but still the largest segment of bikes within my friend group. Meanwhile dual sus single crown overall still seeing plenty of updates. Did rider perception/wants/needs change or should the definition of enduro bike be malleable and rhyme with mall fountain?

5/13/2026 10:50pm They might feel that way but you can already see in the ebike site forums a few different things counter to this- first, because the motor is relatively widespread now its lost some of the allure of exclusivity or uniqueness. Second, some first movers to the A2s motor are reporting that its great but not perfect, due to excessive power...

5/13/2026 10:22pm The controller we see is Orbea's RS HMI Motor Control. Is third party stuff even compatible with the Avinox system ? I'm not so sure. Rallon RS HPR60 ?

5/13/2026 10:21pm we were talking on our ride last night about avinox, and a couple well placed industry friends was saying that there's a real feeling around that they're about to devour the industry and in particular (SRAM/Shimano/Bosch/etc) as a whole given how much engineering resourcing they're putting into the whole thing (Amflow, Avinox, etc). Granted I'm deaf in one year so hearing the fine points of a conversation at speed can be challenging, but they were saying they have a many many hundreds or thousands of engineers working on the motors, batteries, frames, complete bikes and all the brands playing me...

5/13/2026 10:21pm There was a rumor in this thread about Norco and Orbea doing Avinox bikes. I’m surprised they didn’t drop them on DJI Liberation Day considering some of those bikes that dropped are already sold out.

5/13/2026 10:20pm We can see that the shock is right side up, and a nice XT mechanical derailleur (yet to be released). I would guess a new Wild.

5/12/2026 11:52pm One thing missing here is the fact that with the proliferation of composite know how, there are more people around able to safely repair a wider range of issues. Rather than pretending we are recycling carbon bikes I’d love to see more frames designed in ways that facilitate repair. Repair is verifiable in a way that recycling is not, it is cost effective for everyone concerned, and it is as close as you’ll get to good for the environment. It probably flows on to other design decisions to ensure repair is viable (like bearing placement, etc etc), but designing bikes...
