The kneepads-always-on crew clearly ain't from my neck of the woods. If you do a big climb in the southeast in July or August, removing your shoes to put your kneepads back on at the top of a climb gives you the opportunity to also remove your socks and wring the sweat out of them. Bonus of taking knee pads on and off is that you can link that activity in your mind to disengaging the climb switch on your shock and unwinding LSC on your fork back to its normal setting. For me, those two things always go together...

Posted this before, posting again... The old EWS points and event qualifier structure was a great example of a transparent, feasible ladder for talented and motivated riders to climb into the elite field. EWS points were earned at sanctioned local, regional and national level events each with their own points tier and value table. I remember on the website from 2018-2020 there were pages and pages of races you could earn points. An EWS license was about 30USD to get an account and start earning. It seemed that race organizers were welcomed with fair terms to have their races sanctioned...

Man, why do all the cool short travel/dc bikes hate making XL frames? Looking at you, Forbidden. Ripley SL also did look nice, and that solar-powered US-made portion was something that made for a good story.
