It's just so sick. The tire sounds in the flat-ish right hander starting at 3:30 are second to none, and Loris has the most signature Vital Raw freehub sound at 2:56. Great sneaky go-round line from Remi T at 5:34.

I think there's a business case to be made for lower-cost park bikes now that many peoples' primary bikes are eMTBs. Back in the day, my cohort of friends had a trail bike and a DH bike. Later, I feel like it became an enduro bike and a lighter trail bike (aka downcountry). Now, I imagine a lot of mountain bikers' pairings will either be a park bike and an eMTB, or a XC bike and an eMTB.

There was a c-sixx and bionicon “idler “ that was just a tube of plastic that worked like that, it actually pivoted on 2 directions and was super slick. That thing silenced a few hardtails for me in the past but I don’t seem to have one in the bin anymore …. I think I saw one in the pit...
I get that. Yes, marketing is a thing. But geometry doesn’t lie. All these bikes have a merit, and end user scenario-a target buyer demographic- built into the development I think we get worked up sometimes when we want that to be us and it isn’t. Or we don’t want it to be ourselves and —— whoopsie! it is! Also...

Some sort of UDH +15mm chainstay standard would fix a lot of XXL bikes.

Torrent is clean. Bottle rocket is adjustable freeride. Quake is a capable race geo. (Iirc) Different bikes for different folks . I freeride and park my race bikes - and xc ride my enduro bike. But the world does seem to want FUN 27.5 park bikes and the racers do seem to want FAST DH WEAPONS. Why can’t we have...

When I was watching supercross I saw a few of these go off. Its impressive how much they puff up. Also I assume quite a few dudes were running them all season and no one had it go off while just riding. Its a bummer because we all could probably benefit from one of these when riding park, but I imagine its a 1 and done thing when it goes off. And 600$+ is just too much.

counterpoint - $600 is easily the cost of an ER visit for many people 🤷‍♂️

I can speak from recent experience it’s a few times over $600 even with good insurance. Also didn’t help they needed to CT scan most of my upper body... Even as a recreational rider I wear the Fox Baseframe Pro every time I ride, even light trail riding. I’ll welcome any advancements for pros and weekend warriors. After coming close to breaking my back on this last spill I’ll take the extra bone insurance and defer my groupset upgrade. And after watching Luca go 50 mph and Millie nearly throw off the Earth’s rotation, glad most riders should have options...

It’s a solid counterpoint. I’m puting two young guns in the park this season and have really great health insurance. The cost of chesty, full face knee and elbow guards ? It’s right there in that range. Bruni’s a helluva sales person when he comes off at race pace like that and it was def puffed af. Impressive stuff from...
If you don’t like the torrent DH, the bottle rocket and the Marin quake you might not have kids who are regularly sending their carcasses— emulating Everything they see on YouTube— I do have kids. They don’t quite send yet…. but my fellow parents that have high school aged kids that send ( like what the fuck!! These “kids” are...
I think it says alot about the bike. 1. “It absolutely shreds” 2. Horst park bike 3. Dual crown 4. Air or coil 5. Made for park and sideways landings 6. Mx wheels 7. Aluminum That’s definitely a sweet spot for many riders who buy bikes. Brage destroying a trail burger doesn’t hurt.

I have a '23 Smuggler and every time I get that "new bike" itch I end up asking myself why? The Smuggler isn't perfect but it's so damn good I can't convince myself a new bike is worth it (and I'm pretty darn good at finding reasons to justify a new bike). I suspect a lot of folks are in a similar situation...
