I don't want to come off as angry or pretentious, but I find what's going on with Avinox and the Spesh "class 2" emtb disgusting. I'm curious how the people at traditional bike companies feel about what they're helping proliferate into our world for all of the people who created and maintain the trails (mostly volunteers like myself) to contend with. How conflicted are they? Between the general financial malaise in the industry, 32" wheels nobody truly seems excited about, and the unprincipled embrace of avivox/DJI/amflow, what is general morale like? Conversely, and assuming everyone there isn't also yelling at...

I think it goes without saying that the torsional stiffness of a fork on a whole is a function of many things. The only point was that, assuming the same material, there isn’t a magic 15 mm axle that’s stiffer than a 20 mm axle. Yes the hub adds to the torsional rigidity of the axle. If you had the same exact hub layout, the 20 mm version would add more stiffness than the 15 mm version. The rigidity of the hub is limited by axle preload and coefficient of friction at the various hub interfaces. Proper axle torque would...

String pot update... next iteration done and ready to ride. Testing duties will be delegated as I'm recovering from shoulder surgery but hopefully will have some results to share soon.

Other than the engagement feel, really can't a difference between both when it comes to descending. They both mitigate pedal kickback and let your suspension work more freely. If you have a DEG hub then get the DF kit. If you are in the market for a new wheelset with DEG DF then Reserve wheels is a killer cost effective option. If you already have a solid wheelset then get OChain. Also if you like to run a smaller <30T chain ring on a big heavy enduro bike then DT/e13 sidekick are really the only options. Lastly, servicing OChain is...

It would be a neat trick if they simply combined 157mm hub shells with 148mm axles. I don't know if this is what has happened - just speculating.

I know full well what a four bar linkage is. Or a 6-bar. By your logic, we could have 15-bar linkages, think of the marketing!! By your logic Canyon's DH bike is a 6-bar. It's actually a single pivot. The thing in question is how many links you NEED to have the wheel mounted to the bike. With a linkage driven single pivot, you need one. The swingarm. It's that ONE link that defines everything - axle path, antisquat and antidive performance. One single link. No matter how many additional links drive the shock. Therefore Delta and linkage driven single...

Great question! I don't expect you to go off and research all this, so here's the breakdown: 1) iPhone GPS Refresh Rates Apple doesn't publish or guarantee a fixed GPS refresh rate for iPhones (including the new 17). Location updates are adaptive and event-driven, governed by system heuristics - which, as a developer, can be frustrating. In practice, we typically see no less than 1Hz refresh rates (one position update per second) as the norm (battery can throttle this - if its super low). 2) Android GPS Android devices face the same limitations - roughly 1Hz refresh rates across the...

Super good question. The honest answer is: it depends, but we can frame it pretty cleanly. Private equity is generally not structured to “swing and miss” the way venture is. In a traditional buyout strategy, you’re underwriting to avoid permanent capital loss, even if you’re using leverage. That said, bankruptcies do happen. Depending on the dataset, the strategy (mega buyout vs middle market vs distressed), the industry mix, and the time period you measure, you’ll see something like mid single digits up to the teens as a reasonable range for bankruptcy outcomes across portfolios. The more “risk on” the underwriting...

@rodrigomorais Haha, good one! No, truly, these words mean a lot to us. That's also what we're doing this for! It's great to know that people are appreciating the effort we put into trying to make our products sustainable and user friendly instead of cranking out one iteration after the other just to create that fear of missing out. Of course we do want to sell new posts (and we need to), but it's so much more rewarding, hearing people tell us that their BikeYoke dropper (particularly the Revive) is that one thing they take from bike to bike. I...

When I refer to "manpower" I am talking about our in-house capacity. We manufacture/assemble our posts in Taiwan in our own facilities with our own team of now 13 people. That means every single post is assembled by ourselves, not, as it is otherwise often the case, by a "partner"/factory/assembler who is contracted to do all the sourcing, manufacturing, assembly to get the product ready in the box to sell. We draw every single part, source the suppliers, have them made, get them to us and then put everything together in our own facilities with our own machines. No post...

If you want to know the defnition of what a forecast is, I cna try to explain in my own words (that is how we work with forecasts and does not need to apply for others): For starters, we are an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) for many brands. That means that companies buy our products to put them on their complete bikes. Usually, before the beginning of a new year or model year, our customers will provide us with an estimate of their complete demand for a certain period of time. This estimate is called a forecast. This forecast can...

The bike industry as a whole could have sold more than they did in 2020 and most likely throughout the whole 2021. However, the supply chains simply were not able to cope with the demand. And I completely understand that, for some companies (those that essentially everyone needed parts from) it was impossible to give exact lead times. Their systerm could not scale for that demand and that's why you suddenly heard about lead times of 700-800 days. In reality it could have been 300 or 1000. Simply because no one could accurately scale it up just like that, because...

It's a very interesting and impressive interview. Thank you, Sam, for taking the time and going so much into detail and also Jeff, of course for trying and then making this happen! It was interesting to hear how YT experienced the turbulent times during covid. For us, I can say, that we already saw OE orders being postponed and cancelled already around Q2 2022. But the more important thing happened to me in April 2021. There was one particular OE customer who used to need around 1,500 post per year from us. End of 2019 (pre-Covid) we received a projected...

I have a DH bike with the top tube mount, and I wanted just a small multi tool for the occasional lever adjustment etc, but not the whole pack of pump, tubes etc. So I’ve designed this little 3d printed part, and it came out great, it’s rock solid and doesn’t rattle. Uses the original OneUp strap. If anyone is interested I can upload it somewhere Smile

So Markus (CEO of new company) was busy getting the new YT set up in July while Markus (CEO of old company) was busy running a 50% off online flash sale just prior to declaring old YT insolvent in mid-July. Busy man that Markus. The press release containing two pictures of the guy, one of which is in front of a "WE ARE YT" sign is priceless. Are both pictures of new company CEO Markus? Or maybe one is old company CEO Markus? It's really hard to tell.

Oh boy. It will be interesting to see how this goes. I did some digging and I obviously don't speak German nor am I well versed in German bankruptcy proceedings but what appears to have happened is the old YT Industries (HRB 8353) is in an insolvency proceedings with debts parked there and the new YT (12277) is controlled by Flossman and is taking over the brand and operations. This most certainly means the creditors take a (big) haircut, equity (of prior company) is completely wiped (private equity marks the company to 0) and the "new" company is buying assets...
