4/14/2026 6:45am Energy is only dissipated if you permanently deform something. Otherwise it’s just temporarily stored. (Think about how springs would make a terrible crumple zone) If you apply a given force (not acceleration) at the axle, the forces at the headset bearings are the same if you have a single or dual crown fork. Think about a spring as an example...

4/13/2026 10:52am For high frequency loads it can. AFAIK Hucking to flat or nose casing a jump would be a low frequency load and it would be reasonable to approximate it as static and assume that full force is transferred.

4/13/2026 10:38am If you draw a free body diagram you’ll find that the forces are the same for a given A2C length. Stiffness doesn’t change forces applied. Dual crown rated mostly means that it won’t instantly be destroyed if a fork bumper hits the side of the frame.

4/13/2026 7:28am ODI fork bumpers are harder on frames than OEM bumpers from basically any fork manufacturer. They put the mounting screw between the fork stanchion and the frame.

4/6/2026 10:46am When you don't have the bridge it's not only the steering torsional stiffness that is important. You also have to balance the forces left and right. The spring only acts in one way while the damper always oposes movement. The way the axle gives torsional stiffness also impacts how well both legs travel up and down at the same time.

3/30/2026 3:05pm I saw 2014 T6 for one of the older Hope models. Might be different for forged vs machined brakes though.

3/10/2026 1:08pm Interesting, for some reason I assumed that smaller brands like EXT, Cane Creek, or Push for example would want their stuff back to service and send off to another media outlet for review/test purposes. Kind of like how the auto industry has press loaners.

3/10/2026 10:53am Do most manufacturers not normally provide review units as a loaner? I assumed that most non-consumable products like frames and suspension were eventually returned to the manufacturer.

3/3/2026 11:34am Was the front hub the one that you can convert to 20mm? (ISO AB i think they called it) My TR-11 has one CL and one 6b King because the 20mm hub was 6b only and the 148 was CL only.

2/25/2026 5:01pm Pads retract based on piston seal rollback, not on master cylinder volume. It's a common myth, one I believed until I started deep diving into brake bleeds because of persistent issues bleeding brakes. Here's a video explanation: https://youtu.be/mPptmoy0u3s?si=t8CNIRP7x5uGnBrf

2/25/2026 1:46pm “ The amount of oil that moves up and down the hoses is solely dictated by the master cylinder.” The fluid is moved by the master cylinder, but the amount is defined by the caliper. It’s the volume required to take the pistons from retracted to contacting the rotor. You could calculate it with the piston diameters and the rotor...
