I will probably get flamed for this, and will offer the caveat that I have only been skimming this page, but I feel like these bikes are great propositions and are in my eyes cool bikes because they’re made to be cheap and practical workhorses for younger demographics that don’t have as much disposable income and want a playful park bike that they can maintain themselves. Maybe I’m just haven’t been following the thread well enough, but I don’t see why the ebike bit is necessary to explain the appeal. Not everyone can afford bougie boutique racing machines, or ebikes...

Same here. Schwalbe soft holds up better than Maxxterra. Maxxterra rounds off quicker and the sideknobs peel off more than on the schwalbe soft tires I had

In my experience Schwalbe wears better than Maxxis. But I live in the PNW where the trails aren't particularly hard on tires. My soft TC radial on the front isn't showing excessive wear.

I think with the MK1 tacky chan they marketed it more like that. But it’s pretty obvious the tread pattern wears quickly. Openly spaced treads with sharp braking edges will always wear pretty quickly

I fail to see the point of the Dirty Dan when Schwalbe already has the Shredda Front and Shredda Rear. Those are so much better than the Dirty Dan!

Pretty much every Schwalbe sponsored dh pro rides the dirty dan instead of the Shredda. And a lot of non schwalbe sponsored athletes do so too, like Loic for example

I recently read an article by the enduro mag. They made a survey and found out that 70% of their readers that took part in the survey never changed their rebound from what the bike came with. The amount of people riding bikes that dont have a clue about basic setup is very high. For them, something like the progression...

Sticky rubber combined with open tread pattern throws stuff at you and that T9 rubber collects all the rocks and pine cones it can find. So a harder compound and lower knobs is the solution.

I am a light rider and do not skid a lot, my soil is mostly hardpack clay though. A Magic Mary in Soft lasts me like 1500km and 40000m of descending in the rear, depending on the conditions. That is, till the center knobs are barely there anymore. In the winter mud, it wears very slowly.

From what Evil have said (Jason Moeschler) it’s not a DH dedicated bike - there just isn’t the market for them, it’ll be the new Wreckoning but it’s not going to be out anytime soon… so he says.. he’s on instagram as evil.bikes.smooth.operator and answers questions every Friday in his stories. This bike was in it this week.

I am most interested in the long term durability since they now use bushings instead of their so well performing cup and cone bearings
