5/1/2026 4:58pm I'm not going to cast too much shade on Hardtail Bro. I will, however, cast plenty on the mixed messaging and policies of WBD/UCI. Their implied goal has been to raise the professionalism and elite nature of the sport. Simultaneously, they've allowed a racer to use a hardtail to compete. This is inconsistent with the way they're supposedly pushing the sport. I also will cast a little shade on our community. We've bemoaned the loss of grassroots accessibility to the World Cups while also bashing hardtail dude, who represents just such grassroots privateerism. Dude managed to navigate the red tape...

5/1/2026 4:56pm Hardtail guy is Marcin Matuszny, he's a big organizer in the Polish DH and Freeride scene. Riding the HT is his thing, it's not about affording something else it's just what he chooses to ride. That's cool, but I'm not a fan of putting that on a track with elite riders racing for a living at double his pace.

5/1/2026 4:55pm I’m all for the hardtail cat (whether real or just a bro title) at the local races. Maybe not World Cup Dh though? I’m all for accessibility and keeping the world cups somewhat participatory for young/obscure country racers. But not sure showing up with a hardtail is cool. If you gotta ride a 10 year old trailbike it will be way more competitive and probably cheaper than that thing. huge props to that Indonesian champ in the wyn interview. That’s the type of character this sport should really make an effort not to push out.

4/24/2026 5:52pm I clicked that video for a laugh and a trip down memory lane, but yo Laurie is straight up destroying on that old bike and flat pedals. Super impressive and entertaining riding on any bike. RIPPING.

4/23/2026 11:34am Since we are what-abouting.....im honestly more concerned seeing the XC/gravel/road crowd walking around all day in the same chamois they raced in that morning. Some unsuspecting chamois wearer is going to brew up covid 2.0 doing that shit.

4/23/2026 11:33am Forgot the most important part of the media pass: Air conditioned Port-a-potty's. The most lavish of thrones. They even had a gold plated one. Because 'merica. Also, how bad ass is Jill K? Every time I see podium photos of her NOT on the top step, she looks soooo pissed. That hunger is real. If I were racing her, Id consider not winning just so she didn't kick my ass afterwords. (Important note to Jill: Not saying I could beat you anyway). She's such a boss. Brembo told a friend of mine "they didnt have time to bleed them". Could...

4/19/2026 7:59am Somehow emtbs are going in a direction a lot of us figured they’d go from the start. It is more and more about the motor and the battery and less and less about the „bike“ part. They might be fun, they might be fast. But to me it seems more and more like two different sports. With those new torque numbers, it seems rather dubious (ridiculous) to talk of assistance. Maybe the rider assisting the motor, but not the other way around. Not even world class sprinters come close to outputting what a full power Avinox or Bosch is doing...
