Can’t say I’ve ever paid attention to this. I can understand having it with you during practice for various reasons. Vital MTB phone rumors 2026 thread…?

I’ve actually noticed the same thing before too. Maybe the tighter kits just make it visible easier, but it’s funny seeing pro atheletes competing at the highest level with a giant phone crammed into their tiny pocket.

Maybe keep Sun Ringlè as the hub brand and slide the rims all into the Reynolds brand? Outside of some nostalgia with some older peeps, the Sun Ringlè name doesn't seem to have the luster it once did.. But, consolidation under one name would make sense...

I'm seeing that Reynolds is starting to do aluminum wheels now, and they seem to be the Sun Ringle rims and hubs according to the specs on their site, is Hayes shuttering Sun Ringle and rolling everything into Reynolds?

The V+R Racing rider lineup for 2026... TL;DR It's Raina Logar, Zanna Logar and Aletha Ostgaard! Most folks on this forum are familiar with V+R, but briefly for those who aren't, Virginia and Ryan (V+R) are two DH superfans living in the Pacific Northwest. 2026 marks our seventh season sponsoring and supporting downhill racers and our fourth season at the World Cup level. Crazy! For '26 we've re-signed Aletha Ostgaard for her fourth season with V+R Racing! Ally races for Canyon Collective. Zanna Logar has also re-signed for a second season with V+R. Zanna races for Frameworks. So cool! Maybe...

Thank you sir! They’ve been so under the radar, I don’t even think about googling them… would be rad if they “come back out of hiding”…

Have you completely given up trying to genuinely contribute in these forums? I haven’t seen a post in weeks that has a positive connotation or actually adds to the conversation. Please don’t turn this place into a pinkbike comment section.

Not a tech rumor, but after looking at the bike of the day (love everything about it!), does anyone know what happened to Azonic? I used to drool over the stuff, loved the a-frame pedals… just out of curiosity I’d love to know what happened with that brand.

I disagree. The effects you cite are second order at best and debatable in comparison to wheel size rollover when explicitly considering XC racing. Most of the womens xc field already looks to be at the fit limit with 29”. But honestly, I don’t personally care about competitive XC beyond occasionally watching the racing.

I will put it plainly. Big people on little wheels -> frames can accommodate their size => no practical advantage Little people on big wheels -> frames cannot accommodate their size => practical disadvantage There is a fundamental physical advantage for bigger wheels relative to smaller ones in mildly bumpy terrain (XC like). Smaller riders cannot practically access this advantage. There is no disadvantage to small wheels if everyone is on the same wheel size. This is the issue. UCI has regulated road bikes (and others) for decades, sometimes just to keep the classic bicycle aesthetic. It’s funny that they...

100% this. Think about how heavily regulated baseball bats, golf clubs, and tennis rackets are at the elite level. Do you remember when Tom Brady was accused of playing with under-inflated footballs? Almost every sport that relies on equipment has very strict rules about that equipment to create a more level playing field. There's no such thing as a truly level playing field, of course, but deliberately making it less level from the top-down is typically viewed as a negative in sports. And while arguing about rules seems off-topic here, I think it's extremely on-topic, because the regulatory landscape of...

Small wheels don’t constrain geo. How would it have any effect? Didn’t Minaar want a bigger frame and stiffer chainstays? What does that have to do with wheels?
