Kinda. See: the rise of alloy enduro bikes. The 40lb enduro bikes aren’t that heavy because of unsprung weight. Now we are further evolving to consciously get that weight exactly where it’s most beneficial.

I’d like to see someone design a full blown skidplate. It could clamp to the BB cups and be positioned by the ISCG tabs. Trials bikes had similar things decades ago. You could mount a ton of weight down there and you'd get the advantage of a full width skidplate.

I wish someone ( @CascadeComponents? OneUp? WRP?) would make a bash guard that's just made of lead or steel. No unsightly straps and would offer more protection than the plastic ones we have now.

You out of touch M8. Sorry to break it out to you but there's literally 10+ times the amount of gearboxes in Whistler compared to last year. Some people aren't as attached to whatever hasn't improved in decades and actually try things instead of justifying their purchase of a dated system. Kind of over talking gearboxes on the Internet, but I'll just say in the past 12 hours I put my G3 in a rack by a pub and notice another G3. I go to the office and there's another. I literally walk upstairs and there's mr Wooley with guess...

There's an animation on the website. Looks like the axle path goes straight up and back and the idler lets the chain expand under compression to minimize pedal kickback. Really cool design.

At least, that's my read from looking at the photos of the linkage.

Bottom link rotates backwards to compress the shock from the bottom. There is a virtual pivot much higher than the idler pulley, but that's fine because the lower link, that rotates backwards, is where the idler is mounted so it moves backwards too. This means you don't need a sky high pulley location, so more efficiency, shorter chain, less frame material, less stress on the frame and bearings, etc. Brilliant.

Quick anecdote: I’ve convinced myself to race the MSC DH at Targhee, and the Geometron G1 I pieced together isn’t quite what I hoped it would be, at least not yet. Hence, I started looking for a proper DH bike that wouldn’t break the bank and every bike that was in my budget is out of stock. Then I started shopping for a handful of other DH-adjacent items, shoes, pants, gear, etc., and had the same reaction: inventory feels noticeably lighter across the board. And again, bargain pricing also seems much harder to find. Really hard, actually, which I guess...

True, but team riders aren't always on "stock" bikes. If the geometry ticks most of the boxes and they offer this bike in a 130 or 140 mm rear travel that is coil-compatible, one of my kids might not be going to college.

Will there be multiple bikes at different travel levels similar to the SB bikes? Oh, and coil compatibility 😁

As questioned above. Can it be set up for cable actuated shifting without lots of ugly zip-ties?
