Lake Placid is like 5 hours drive from LaGuardia. Even if riders flew into Albany, it's over two hours to Lake Placid. Mount Snow is closer to both airports. Lake Placid was beautiful and by all accounts, a unique race. But would it ever have been chosen without this huge, upside-down investment from this "Regional Olympic" agency?
